  Visiting this museum has been by far one of the best experiences in my visits to Mexico City downtown. The place is not just free but conveniently located 2 blocks from the main plaza (called Zocalo) and unlike other museums, this museum opens on Mondays. By the time I went there there was an exhibition called "bibliofilia mexicana" which enlightened me about Mexican intellectual production through history. It got me by surprise that there were serious intellectuals in Mexico in the past, with really complete and good productions, a fact that is not much highlighted about MexicoI would also recommend to visit the terrace of the museum, where you can enjoy a great view of the surroundings. There is a coffee place on the terrace and also a small bookstore.

  This museum is a must see in Mexico City! They are multiple floors of different exhibits. There is also a rooftop that has a coffee bar and gift shop. Entrance was free, but you have to let them hold your bag once you get to the stairwell. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. I loved the small art they had that was very detailed. I highly recommend and would visit again with friends.

  Not particularly interesting. All exhibits were in Spanish and if you don't speak the language, it is a huge waste to go to this museum. I'm sure the exhibits were great but we couldn't understand any of it.

  Not sure if it is worth visiting as there are other museums that were more interesting that this one. I would rate this as a 'second time in Mexico City' type of place.

  Little but accessible to visit when you're in Madero street , then you can visit Palacio de Iturvide

  Great museum! It shows a little bit about Mexico's history, and it is completely free. I loved it! Totally recommend it.

  Estanquillo means General Store, and because of the diverse personal collection of writer Carlos Monsiváis, he thought it looked like a General Store. Artifacts from 20th century Mexico City.

  Awesome small museum in a great place wich it used to be a palace. Its free and has easy access to it.
