as far as budget hostels go (has the look and feel of a hotel) this is one of the nicest I've seen throughout my latin american travels. spacious, clean private rooms with balcony, a/c, proper drapes and interior lighting. nice views from the top floor restaurant. friendly helpful staff and centrally located. I wish every town had a hostel this good and this affordable.

Great hostel. Lacked a bit of atmosphere because there wasn't much of a common area. They helped me with a tour to Sumidero the day I arrived.

The rooms and the toilet are super clean. The beds are comfortable, and have individual lights and plugs.
Each room has a shower inside. The toilet is outside.
There is a kitchenette that can be used from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. During the evening, a bar and restaurant occupies the same area.
The Staff is ready to help.
Free drinking water.
Good signal WiFi.
Excellent location: only two blocks away from main plaza. It is noisy if there is a public event.

I have stayed at hundreds of hotels in Mexico, outside of a resort this is the best I have seen. Hostel/hotel with a great atmosphere. Good rooftop bar and restaurant. My private queen room was amazing. Fast internet throughout the property. Highly recommend.

Nicely decorated hotel with a modernist minimalist decor, comfy beds and good shower. Not all rooms have toilets. Roof top terrace with nice views. Super fast cheap laundry service. Weak wifi in the rooms, no wifi on the rooftop. Asked for a quiet room, was not quiet from noise of the street, maybe this is a general problem of a badly isolated building. They announced a „control“ in the rooms the day after our arrival, it turned out to be a fogging

Very clean place. AC in dorms. Very good sturdy bunk beds. Staff very friendly and helpful. WiFi throughout the hostel. Great view from bar on the top floor. Great pressure in shower. Really comfortable place to stay. Great location, right in the centre of things. Free drinking water.

This review is basically for The Terraza located at the Hostal.
Regarding Hostal Tres Central, I don't have any issues and I give them a 5 stars.
The Terraza is a restaurant-bar located on the roof of the hostal. In the morning they provide free coffee and in the afternoon free tropical soft drinks. From the terraza you enjoy a beautiful view of the city and free "hamacas" to relax.
Ownership of that business is not the same of the owners of the hotel.
Here comes the bad review. During the Carnaval, I stayed at Tres Central and invited my relatives to join me for drinks and dinner at The Terraza and watch a show from there which was taking place at the Parque Central (Main Plaza).
We were a party of 10 people and we ordered a lot of drinks and food. The bill was quite high, which was okay because of our consumption of beverages and food.
Here is my aggravation: When you check in to the hostal they handle you a coupon to get a 10% discount on the food you consume at The Terrazza.
However; when paying the bill, they refused to honor that discount. That's quite misleading and dishonest to say the least.
About the food, quite horrible! My nephew and I ordered a hamburger which is the most expensive item in the menu. The meat was cheap and salty to the point my nephew couldn't digest it and started coughing like chocking. I had a bite and that was it. The rest of my relatives couldn't finish their meal for the same reason.
I hope the hostal owner looks for a better caterer, otherwise it could hurt his/her business.response / report this review -

Even though it's the only hostel in Tuxtla, as far as I know, it's got great service, super comfortable beds, a nice staff and a great roof taraza

In the center, very clean, simple. Not the type of hostel where you will met a lot of travelers. But it has bar in third flour with beautiful view to city and mountains around an they cook very well - not cheap but worthy to taste something for menu - it's for gourmets ;-)
