I really enjoyed the vibe here, it was surprisingly calm and peaceful and had a cozy feel to it despite having lots of minimalist style and bare concrete.

I was a little weary staying here since the location was so far from the beach but it ended up being a great decision. There were so many restaurants and bars around to choose from that were literally steps away. Also the room is unlike any other room I've ever stayed in. It was super bright, great industrial characteristics. The staff was super friendly too and the mezcal was fantastic. I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Beautiful hidden gem bar with pop-up food cart Thursday and Saturday nights.
Outdoor bar that you entire through a narrow unmarked gate, with reclaimed wood seating in lush greenery setting that gives off a Tulum vibe, and fire pit.
Love the small cozy bar with hard to find mezcals.
Tried the arrachera grilled cheese from the food cart on a Thursday night paired with a gin botanicals infused mezcal with Fever Tree tonic and had a great relaxed time before hitting Art Walk in Gallery District.response / report this review -

I love Drift. The vibe is just beautiful. Thursday night is a must. Their short, short bar menu makes it even more attractive. Crew work hard to please every customer. Scenery is fantastic with lots of trees and palm trees. Seating fixtures are a bit uncomfortable but who cares if you are having a good time. So, go visit Drift, drink Mezcal and pay cash (cash is better for all locals).

I came for the drinks on a Thursday night.
The outdoor bar is a swanky and chic poppin' oasis of serenity. The owner will likely need to hire more staff it's so busy. The outdoor fire place was great to sit next to. The crowd seemed to be mid 20's to mid 30's. Dress code seemed dress/casual. The high walls provide great seclusion from the outside if you never heard of Drift, you may not have found it. The greenery and trees only serve to enhance the experience.response / report this review -

Just returned home from a 10 day stay. DRIFT is a great alternative to the big resorts and Spring Break crowd. Instead of luxury or organized tours, it is more of a meeting place of young like-minded travellers who are more interested in getting out and seeing stuff. It is super basic without a huge list of amenities but the important thing is that it is really easy to meet other really cool like-minded people which I think makes travelling more fun and interesting anyhow. DRIFT is right downtown in the little town of San Jose (which is more of an authentic Mexican town compared to San Lucas), so it can sometimes be kinda sleepy and quiet, but then get noisy and busy with music and events - so you get a bit of everything. There is great food (try Marinero Borracho for amazing seafood, drinks at DVUR, churros in the town square, and croissants from the French Riviera Bakery!). We spent a few days in San Jose, then rented a car and made our way via the cool little mountain town of El Triunfo, for a quick stop to see this rad smokestack from an old gold mine that was designed by Gustav Eiffel. Then, on to La Paz to swim with whale sharks, an amazing beach called Balandra Bay and a boat trip out to Isla Espiritu Santo - easily arranged by walking along the beach and asking the local fisherman. Do a (website hidden) Image Search on Balandra Bay La Paz - you will be amazed. San Jose is that much more interesting with a car or 4x4. You can get out and see the beautiful desert and find empty beach. Lots of cool day trips that you can figure out yourself. We felt safe and didn't find that we were missing out on anything by not going on an organized tour. DRIFT was the perfect spot to come back to every night, get cleaned up and then walk into the town for dinner or drinks.
