The food was bad and the attention worst!!
They prefer American and world visitors, no Hispanics.
So we decided to try to eat at this place.
They seat ya at a lovely little courtyard with nice appeal, and it seems romantic and off to a good start.
The waiter comes by and serves us all bottled water without us asking I thought to myself, what a nice little perk, and we order our drinks
One person orders a coffee after asking if it's fresh, and he says of course Another person orders coke And he doesn't see ask me what I want and leaves Fine, it happens. When he comes back I order a margarita
The most sour margarita I've ever had in my life comes, which I try to fix with the ancient sugar packets in the table. (I got it to passable with a bit of effort).
Then he serves us some white bread that is extremely old. I'm talking at least 3 days old. There was no moisture at all in this stuff. Everyone tries a single bite, and leaves it alone.
Finally we get our entrees. I ordered a fetticini Alfredo with chicken.. it looks good and tastes good I'm thinking to myself that this place just made a bad call with the bread and can't make margarita's, but at least they got something right. Until my final bite I taste metal I reach in my mouth and pull out a jagged little metal shard I tell the waiter and he takes it away and says nothing about it.
The bill comes Now, on the menu it says that all process include all things However on the bill there is a service fee for being served of 159 peso's Those Waters that they just served when we sat down 70 pesos each I didn't know the price of the margarita, but apparently it was 150 pesos And 40 pesos for that can of coke. I knew the food was expensive going in but this place is just absolutely ridiculous.
Learn from my mistake and DON'T EAT HERE.
At best you will just be ripped off At worst, in the hospital with sharp metal in your throat.
Their food is good but they will change the prices on you after you sir down and add service fees. Watch out!
Nice atmosphere, cute little patio area. Good caprese with mozzarella made on their farm (slightly different texture than typical mozzarella) and grilled octopus. Friendly service.
Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. This well, established family run business won't leave you disappointed. There is both indoor and outdoor seating surrounded by the classic Mexican hacienda decor as well as live music. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you are looking to get away from the typical tourist food this is a great place. The first thing they bring out is some bread with home made butter that has quite the amazing flavor. Next I had the tortilla soup which is an excellent blend of flavor and spice. I have tried many different renditions of this soup in the U.S. and Mexico and so far this one takes the top. Main meal was the Mexican Molcajete which is served in a molcajete (very hot so don't touch) filled beef chunks, cheese, and chorizo. The meat was very flavorful and extremely tender. The chorizo was also very good with some crunchy pieces. With this dish you are served with fresh homemade flour, corn, and blue corn tortillas along with Pico de Gallo, salsa and avocado. All of this together makes an amazing combination of flavors that will leave you drooling for more.
Fantastic atmosphere, delicious food and great service.
This restaurant is a hidden treasure. Very unassuming from the outside but once inside it's a beautiful place. It's a 150 year old house. Food is great. Service is excellent. They have a private room that seats 8 complete with old music albums and turntable to play them on. There's also a wine collar. Prices are very affordable.
Great cucumber margaritas! The restaurant is part of a 100 year old house.
This quaint family owned restaurant was thankfully wonderful, authentic, and romantic. We filtered into the family patio by invitation from a jovial man under the Don Rodrigo sign. With some initial hesitation at his smiling gestures, with our seating at the table, it became evident that they had been serving and entertaining guest at the family home for ages. We were astounded by the wood platter of family cheeses, aged at different lengths for a true journey of tastesthe chef's specials expanded this graceful exploration, and the meats and fish were strikingly flavorful. We only had one regret of not eating every single item. Wholeheartedly we got to become a guest of a historic San Jose Los Cabos family for a night as many of the staff had been working and growing organic foods and livestock for hundreds of years (same line genetically of cattle from the purchase from the Spanish Missionaries in the late 1800's) The Sea Bass prepared by the chef was a great selection as example of how great the seafood in Baja can be. Live, and breath in the entertainment of a loving family shown in food, music, and real history at this restaraunt. There is no comparison of a place of this beauty and character to any corporate restaurant chain or snack stand in all of Baja.
We had a really bad experience there. After the waiter praised the catch of the day for 320 pesos, he charged us 870 pesos. We only found out once we were back at the hotel. We called them right away, and they were denying everything. Con men.
The atmosphere and food at Casa Don Rodrigo are amazing. The staff speaks great English and loved chatting about everything. We went during slow season pretty early in the night, but it was still fairly busy. However, our waiter took time to walk us through the menu and kept a close eye on us, making sure everything was perfect. A manager took us on a tour of the property, which was amazing and really showcased how it's an old, historic family place.
The atmosphere, staff/service, live music and food is top notch! We come here multiple times when we visit Cabo and plan to have our wedding reception here in 2018! Love Jesus and his staff! Thank you for making us feel so welcome.
Excellent food. Try the Tinte Malagon red wine from Mexico. The cheese ravioli are amazing. Atmosphere is fabulous. Staff is very friendly. Music great!
