This is a very very large resort. Too large for my taste but that doesn't lose a star for me. What losses the star is that dinner reservations for us were a nightmare. There were restaurants that were completely booked every night even though we tried to book the morning after we arrived. Big bummer that I hadn't experienced at other resorts. Other than that, really great experience. Night entertainment has really been stepped up and there were pool concerts twice while we were there in the middle of the dayloved it. And I should add that the restaurants we were able to go to were excellent.

Very nice hotel with a wide variety of restaurants and pools as you are able to use the facilities of the other hotels in the resort. We had an excellent stay and would recommend the place for its atmosphere, cleanliness overall design and setting. Minor niggles for us were the staffing levels at reception (I had to queue for more than 10 minutes on at least 3 occasions), and then the buffet. All the buffet needs is a few more people and they could turn tables over in a timely fashion. We frequently had to sit at a dirty table and then receive crockery and cutlery piecemeal. Not a 5* experience. I would add that this was not the case in any of the other restaurants.

Paradise- Had an amazing 2 week holiday at the Bahia Principe, Akumal. This is the sixth time we’ve been and it just gets better. Food and drink compares to Michelin star restaurants. Service here is outstanding, from Ana in the buffet restaurant to Miguel in the beach bar, nothing is too much trouble. Spectacular view from our room overlooking the beach. Gardens and resort are immaculately kept and spotlessly clean. There is something for everyone here. Highly recommended.

Really nice hotel including several Bars, Restaurants, Pools and Beaches. Food was outstanding and very varied, personal very friendly. Stayed there 10 nights with a 1.5 year old boy. One Beach is a little stony the other one sand only. Both Beaches get cleaned permanently and are shallow, so that playing with the little one on the beach and in the shallow water is really awesome. Nature in the hotel complex is a kind of well-groomed jungle. Nearby a lot of Maya excavations can be visited. I'd recommend a visit to friends and relatives.

I just returned from a week at Bahia Principe Akumal and I cannot say enough about it. I traveled with a friend and we were upgraded on our arrival at no request of ours. We loved Akumal! The food was wonderful everywhere and we had access to the whole resort. There is so much to see and do it's unnecessary to leave. It's big enough that if you just want to relax there are plenty of quiet places for that as well. The staff are all so helpful and gracious. We will be back!

It's an all inclusive. That should tell you everything you need to know in terms of cultural experience. The rooms are spartan but nice, everything is very clean. There are lovely beaches, although artificial breakers impede the view. Some weird smells every now and then impede the experience, but if you're looking for a beach relaxation experience you are in the right place. Just expect a very controlled, safe experience that doesn't actually put you outside your comfort zone or give you anything to take away.

    Pros:
+ Best food we had in any all-inclusive in Cancun. Mikado and Brazilian steakhouse a must try.
+ Excellent beach, especially for Akumel residents. Good spot to snorkel with tons of fishes.
    + Excellent nightly entertainments
+ Very friendly and dedicated staff
+ Lots of activities for kids
+ Excellent location for other outside activities
+ Cheap taxi service from the lobby

    Cons:
    - Room could be better. Rooms are dark. Exhaust fan in the rest room would be good to have. The translucent glass window to the rest room is just weird. A microwave would be good to have, especially for families traveling with kids.
    - Not as much drink selection as other all inclusive resorts in Cancun.

Let me start by saying we've had amazing from the minute we stepped foot on the resort. Glass of champagne on arrival, bell boys took our luggage up to the room which was 3rd floor of villa 56. Beautiful beach view from the room, house keeping was great maintaining bathroom supplies and fresh linen. We tried almost every restaurant on resort and each was great. We are planning on coming back again next year.

This was my first time staying at an all inclusive in Mexico. After doing Cuba, Dominican Republic and Costa Rica this blows them out of the water. The beach front is beautiful, the food is fantastic, the people who work here seem to really love their jobs. The attention to detail in the resort construction shows. The evening entertainment also tops all the previous all inclusives I've been too. They have constructed fake sand bars that let you swim in the ocean without feeling the pull of the waves, making a nice safe place for adults and children alike. We are only staying a week but there is so much to do we could easily have stayed for longer and will likely be returning next year!

I would recommend the Luxury Bahia Pincipal hotels Mexico as a holiday destination. We stayed in the Akumal & could use all 4 hotels. We have eaten at a different restaurant every night, the food and service as been exceptional. The staff are friendly and go that extra mile to make sure you are enjoying yourself and that you don't have anything to think about. If there is problem it is dealt with efficiently and
    quickly.
All in all an excellence stay xxx
