The bed was horrible. Just a little foam on two pallets. They are expanding the hotel, building more rooms, but totally forgot to care of the rooms they have.

Stayed at Thumbi View Lodge in Oct 2017 after summiting mount Kilimanjaro , Great setting to relax, chill and watch the amazing sunset , food was excellent as were the staff and service ,the owners were very helpful and accommodating to all their guests needs , I would definitely stay there again .

A relatively good place for it's price. Got a very nice pool overlooking the lake for those of us who are afraid of "catching something" in the lake water. Keep your schedule open for the sunset cruise that stops by to pick up guests.

OK, would prefer the Funky Cichlid. Rooms are OK, nothing special, and toilet leaked in ours. You have to order evening meals by 1pm, which put us off as we wanted to be more spontaneous so always ate elsewhere, other than the included breakfast (plenty of other lodges and restaurants just a short stroll away down the beach).
Nice pool, lake views and secure parking. Friendly and helpful staff.response / report this review -

What a great place! Lovely spacious room, super helpful, pro-active staff and owners, gorgeous pool overlooking the beach and great food (including a pizza oven - yum!) Definitely recommend a visit to Thumbi View Lodge if you're in Cape MacLear!

The lodge is nice but the resturant only serves a set menu at dinner, it would be nice to have choices like you do at other places. The room was clean, there are no AC rooms but you will probably not have power half the night so can't use it if you have it. Usually hot water in the morning but maybe not at night if the power is out.

Not a bad choice at US$55 a night peak season. Clean self contained terrace chalet/room that are being upgraded. Lake facing, "infinity pool", mosquitoe net (though too short in room 3), good breakfast.
