Drinks are really well priced, the let you use the free paddle boards and diving stuff. Food was good but can appear slightly dirty from time to time. The do nice pizzas on Sundays in the pizza oven.

Great backpackers place to stay with very warm and friendly staff. Non self contained rooms have amazing view of the lake. Free snorkelling gears and other water stuff like surf boards and canoes. Well maintained and clean compound. Food can be ordered in the restaurant, which is a nice meeting place as well.

It is a home a way from home. A place you come to stay for two days and end up staying for three weeks. It's a very vibrant place with a beautiful view of blue Lake Malawi, there is provisions for snorkeling, peddling and swimming in this clear blue Lake and you can see a variety of fish, my favorite were the blue ones and the brown fish. The stuff are great and the owner are very kind people arranging all sorts of activities to make the place extra amazing. My experience is great I feel like never leaving this place. Hahaha

Great hostel, lovely food and really good access to activities for guests (eg free kayak / paddle boarding, free boat trips etc).
Place was really nicely situated on a little rocky beach so you can swim directly from the lodge and the water is beautiful.
Only downside was that the place was a little bit run down and could use a bit more comfy / lounge seating (or fresh cushions) indoor and out.
But overall a really nice stay, would definitely go back!

Such a beautiful spot with many free activities right from the lodge. SUP boards, kayaks and snorkelling gear are available included in the price, and the restaurant is decent. Slightly more expensive than Butterfly, but the free boat/snorkelling trips and friendly staff make it very worth it. I'll be back.

I spent possibly a month's time here in Mayoka Village. It is the kind of place you get yourself completely lost in. The staff, the fresh clean water from the lake and the owners are all on point when it comes to making your experience a lifetime to remember.

One of my favourite backpacker, stayed there for a week, food was awesome, you have a bar and a beautiful lake with free paddle boards. Everything was ok!
The staff is always nice and helpful, rooms are ok. Great vibes there

Tropical beach vibes stream out of mayoka village. The first thing every backpacker asks you when you are in Malawi is: "have you been at Mayoka?"
Beautifull views of blue water with free paddle boards and canoes.
Magnificent bar with every beverage you need!!
Sleeping accommodation is camping or chalet. Both have a great look over the bay.
Great snorkeling too. The owners are South African and British. Great people to have a chat with.

Pros: Great location, nestled in a hillside in beautiful Nkhata Bay. Cheerful, helpful staff. Amazing food - I recommend the evening specials - particularly the evening with the buffet. The spread is pretty extensive - just be sure to get in line first. Relaxed atmosphere. Canoes are available for use to row into town, and the Tuesday boat trip is great, and, though the boat is stuffed to the gills, it's a party atmosphere.

Asides: Food can be pricey, but the fixings for guacamole are readily available in the village below, as are some of the best bananas you will ever eat. Buy liquor in town, too. Sachets of cheap rum, vodka, and whiskey are available - as are the ever popular Carlsberg Stouts and Greens.

Cons: Careful walking around the lodge steps at night. They're slippery and oh so steep! Avoid on Saturday nights if you choose to stay in the hostel flats and plan to actually sleep, as the party can go all night. Power goes out Often. Bring cash, as credit card machine is unreliable. And, if you're a woman - avoid the male half of the ownership
