First of all, let me point out that it is our Third time in the Maldives and more to come, this is my first time trying como maalifushi, Unfortunately, we have been unpleasantly disappointed.

the island is quite big and has a lot of lush greenery, the villas are nicely appointed, I love the beach villa with the swimming pool, it’s big and private. I also tried the water villa with swimming pool, both are lovely but I would choose the beach villa. Please avoid the garden villa that’s the worst one.

The resort has 3 bars/restaurants. All 3 have very little food selection where the menu does not change between lunch and dinner. Even the room service menu is a replica of the restaurant menu. The food is nice and fresh, it’s a la cart there is no buffet ( well there is buffet once a week but you have to pay for it) you will basically be eating same food after 2 days and when there is something new in the menu you have them to pay for it. When I asked the manager an explanation he replied COMO is about quality, well I love to eat when I’m on holiday, every resorts I’ve been to they had buffet except that one. We are bored of the food I would say if you are on diet COMO is the perfect choice.

The service in general is very friendly but not top notch. They take ages to bring your food it seems they are short of staff but at the same time they are not.

I would also like to point out that the we are used to the generally high prices for food and SPA in the Maldives, but Maalifushi exceeded average 5 star Maldivian price level. Massage prices are higher by 20-25%, and the SPA level itself is great but it is at par with others we have been to. Food prices are also higher, be prepared to spend approx. 70 USD per person for a light lunch and around 120 USD for a dinner with one cocktail.

The beach is mostly made out of coarse sand and coral fragments. It's uncomfortable to walk on. The swimming area is full of dead and broken corals, stones and construction debris. it is really a struggle to find a nice spot to swim, I suggest shoes because I still have cuts on my feet.

The dive center is nice and efficient, they have modern equipment and even prescription masks for those that wear glasses, which is a large plus point. The house reef is easily accessible by the jetty and always full of fish

On my last day I was very disappointed, I had my sea plane late afternoon but the hotel want me to check out early knowing I have baby that need to sleep, changed when we asked for late checkout they refused saying we can stay in the lobby, no compassion or support after showing our disappointment they gave us a garden villa to stay 2h in, they could’ve just left us in our original room we were happy to pay extra, that was really bad and sad.

I would like to say BIG thanks to Citi for her wonderful service, Fahim and Adam in the cleaning they were always attentive and very helpful, Philip for his help sorting out some issues,

Our beach holidays are meant for us to be pampered beyond measure by the hospitality but for this trip, it was mainly disappointing, we won't be returning to this resort and I will certainly not recommend this to anyone. Way too many better options available in Maldives.

I’m sure it’s not possible to give any Como resort less than 5 but rest assured for everything you would expect from a first class, 5 star Maldives resort. The staff are committed to their profession and each and every guest. A beach side villa was our choice and are wonderful. We just renewed our vows, much to the surprise of my wife and from beginning to the next day, Ayu our butler, ensured every detail was perfect! Thank you!

The Maldives are indeed beautiful but add in a stay at Como Maalifushi and you have the perfect relaxing getaway.

The story of how our first acquaintance with the Maldives turned out to be a complete disappointment

…thanks to the hotel Como Maalifushi

(we booked our trip through a travel agent and therefore cannot leave a review on Booking)

We have long wanted to visit the Maldives. We watched photos of friends and other people and were able to imagine what a trip to this country should be like. Unfortunately this hotel does not live up to what you would expect from the Maldives.

    Let's go through the points:

Food/kitchen. All food and drinks are of very poor quality, some of the dishes were not even touched - it looked so bad. The level of cuisine is at most an ordinary cafe, definitely not a restaurant level in a deluxe hotel. All menus in all establishments have a couple of decent dishes. And only on Fridays there is a good quality dinner in a buffet format, like a special person is brought for this just once a week.

Villa (we had a villa with access to the beach).
The villa from the outside may seem pretty, but upon first detailed examination, a bunch of shortcomings are noticeable. Everything, every part of the villa, is very old. For example, sockets, not all are suitable for our chargers, and those two that fit are very loose, they just do not hold the charger. There is only one adapter btw. Very strange cosmetics in the bathroom (soap, shower gels), after them we had discomfort on the body. Almost no space for the clothes. Two times we found huge cockroaches inside, while we tried to close the doors instantly.

Paid minibar, even for coke, which is very strange in the villa for a solid payment. The tea bags have most likely been in it for many years and it is impossible to drink it.

And there is almost no privacy from nearby villas.

A villa with access to the ocean - along with very sharp sand made of shells to a beach where it is impossible to swim - absolutely everywhere there are reefs and very shallow. Even if you want to try - you cannot rent a rafting slippers, just to protect your feets. Hotel doesn’t have them, while island is surrounded by reefs. Hilarious.

Nowhere on the island is there more than a meter of that very soft white sand and blue water without reefs, which the Maldives is famous for.

Water villas are also aground, you cannot go swimming just from the villa with so much reefs and 1.5m depth max.

    The internet is VERY bad.

Service. We did not fully understand the role of the butler in this hotel - if he carried out orders, then reluctantly and not accurately, even if the request was described in detail.
During the meal, we could be approached by several employees in turn, without introducing themselves, asking us how we were resting. Not the best time, right?

Leisure. We were not in the mood to go to activities from the hotel, as the impression had already been spoiled from the first days, we did not want to aggravate it. So we decided to have fun ourselves, swim in the ocean. But it was almost impossible: there were either shallow + dead sharp reefs. Or deep + big dead sharp reefs.
Yes, the marine life around the island is 90% dead. You will not meet any huge schools of fish if you do not go away from the island into the open ocean.

I can go on and on, but I want to finish and forget about this hotel.

The declared status and actual quality do not match. The price is unreasonably high, and we are far from greedy people. All this is reminiscent of deception for those who either do not understand quality, or for a one-time reception of guests.

The island, most likely, was originally unsuitable. This is not the Maldives you dream of. This is a lie.

Great experience! Water villa’s are big and we could fit our two kids in the same room, the swimming pool on the villa is nice ;)

Great house reef with sharks, turtles, rays and many coral reef fishes, ideal for kids since no meed to swim a lot

A couple of restaurants with a mix of local, international food and Japanese

    Half board is really recommended

All staff are really nice and will do their best of your experience, although some more staff would be helpful since some times took much time to get served on the restaurant

Overall a great experice and great x kids

There is no better place in the world for a Vacation or Honeymoon, this is the most luxurious and exquisite island one can find. I was blown away by the attention to detail and amazing customer service! The staff is very knowledgeable in everything and treat you like royalty. Amazing surfing, diving, food, beaches, sunsets, all in all everything was superior. Recommend to go here for everyone!!
