Our overall experience was fantastic. Dinning outdoors in the flower garden was fantastic. The room was cozy and well equipped. The staff was great. The staff in charge of activity Mr Ali Arif was great. You would need to let him know your wish and plan ahead with him. He will try his best to fulfill your wishes.
The only thing i felt was unreasonable was the service charge for the transfer from Male to Asia Inn. The inn management charged us 40 usd per person, but if you were to book on your own ahead, it will only cost you 25 usd per person with MYNA Speedboat , Telephone no 7567904. My wife and I stayed 7 nights at the Asia Inn guest house in January 2015. The Asia Inn in on the island of Hangngnaameedhoo in the Ari atoll. The staff at the Asia Inn provided us an agent on Male that bought ferry tickets for us and made sure we got on the correct ferry to Hangngnaameedhoo. Ali and his helpers were there at the dock to greet us after the 4 hour voyage and take our luggage back to the Inn. This was our first stop in a four island Maldivian vacation. We soon realized that the Maldives is a flip-flop country. We stayed a total of 23 days in the Maldives and everywhere we went , the locals wore flip-flops. Flip-flops are the only way to go because you take off your shoes when entering any building. You are constantly taking off and putting your shoes back on to go somewhere and flip-flops allow you to do so without bending down and getting your hands dirty.
The Asia Inn has 4 large comfortable rooms with a/c and Wi-Fi. Our room had a wonderful out door shower. We paid a rate of $165 per night which included taxes , three meals a day and a different excursion each day. Taxes are 22% so they are not insignificant. Meals were typical Maldivian , usually including a rice and pasta dish with a couple of curry sauces with chicken or fish to put over the rice served with a flour tortilla clone called roshi. A salad of mostly cucumber and a little tomato or cabbage and carrot accompanied most meals. One night Ari grilled a 3 foot long white snapper that one of the women guests had caught on a fishing excursion that day. A dish that was often served was mas huni which is finely minced tuna ,coconut , and onion which I always placed in a roshi, rolled up and eaten like a wrap. Also ubiquitous was beef/chicken sausage like a US hot dog; the Maldivians will never know the taste of a good pork sausage. Cooking is done by family members wifes which live across the street. The staff at the Asia Inn is extremely friendly and helpful and Ali is extremely competent in leading the excursions.
The Asia Inn is located in the interior of the island so you can't see or hear the ocean. The island has a beach area on the western end for locals and a wind sheltered adjacent beach area for visitors where bikini are allowed. The beach is a 400 meter walk from the Inn. Ali provided us a large umbrella and two lounge chairs on days we wanted to go to the island beach. The beach is adjacent to a nice clear swimming lagoon where the water is waist to shoulder deep. We enjoy snorkeling and the edge of the reef is only 30 or 40 meters from the beach. Snorkeling is made easy because there are two clear channels to the edge of the reef through the lagoon. If you are intimidated by the sudden drop off of the reef edge you can hover at the reef edge over the shallow channel; if not, you can snorkel for about 50 meters along the edge of the reef from one channel and go back to the beach via the other channel. Either way we saw more fish and more variety of fish than we have seen any where in the world including Hawaii.
We heartily recommend you include the Asia Inn guest house on your itinerary to the Maldives. You won't be disappointed.response / report this review
