We last stayed a few nights at Royal Macau Hotel during the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday and very much enjoyed our stay as we have been with our stays here in past years. In total, I believe we have stayed here 6-7 times during weekends trips from HK.

Rooms are very nice for the rates charged (see pictures) and represent a significant upgrade in value for money compared to similarly priced hotels in Macau. Importantly, beds are very comfortable and wifi is now always fast and stable. Refer to my past reviews for Royal Macau for room details and specifics. Check-in remains slower than most hotels around Macau but we've usually been able to get into our room within 10-15 minutes after arriving.

Transportation: There is free ferry service to/from the main Macau Ferry Terminal. Service hours 8.35am to 9.35pm from the hotel to the ferry terminal with scheduled departures every every 30 minutes (05 and 35 minute marks). From the ferry terminal, service runs from 8.55am to 9.55pm with service every 30 minutes (25 and 55 minute marks).

Note: There is convenient bus routes that you can pick up near Royal Macau as well. Walk through the small garden in front of the hotel. There is a bus stop to your right. There you can pick up buses to Taipa Village, Cotai Strip and Coloane if helpful.

Location: Royal Macau is situated on a quiet square, around 8-10 minute walk from the main sightseeing areas of the Historic Centre of Macau and just 3-4 minutes walk from the lovely St. Lazarus and Tap Seac areas. You can also walk up to Guia Hill in 8-10 minutes of rather steep climb from the hotel. In the end, there is easily 2 days worth or sightseeing nearby Royal Macau even before you consider trips over to the famous Cotai Strip to see the major hotels.

Dining: There are many local eateries around and the in-house FADO restaurant is one of our very favourite Portuguese restaurants in Macau. This makes for at least one delicious and convenient meal each time we stay at Royal Macau. We also usually stop by the very good coffee shops like Blooom and Single Origin which are within short walking distance from the hotel.

Overall, as long as room rates remain reasonable at Royal Macau, this will be one of our preferred hotels for our regular trips over from Hong Kong. It will also remain an easy property to recommend to fellow travellers visiting Macau this year.

Spacious high standard bedroom with king size double bed and well equipped bathroom facilities. Conveniently located in the old suburb of Macau. Walking distances to city centre and casino. Good price for the value.

We stayed at Royal for 2 days in the last week of April this year.
The property is very good, neat and well maintainedand of quality standards.
The staffs were so pleasing and courteous.
The buffet breakfast had a widespread menu and except for the pork items, rest everything was good.
In total. we had a pleasant stay. All thanks to my friend and travel partner Shiney Sabik of Al Hind travels, Kannur , for assisting us in all means and making our vacation so comfortable.

Perfect with certificate excellent from Trip Advisor. It's true. Variety Breakfast with fruits, vegetable, bread, rice, seafood dumplings, oatmeal, eggs, cake, beef, etc. For moslems, please ask and read the food banner before taken the foods. The room and bathroom is good, clean, and comfort. Staff helpfully, free shuttle to Hongkong ferry/Macau airport is bonus. Save more moneys.

Good place to stay at. The hotel has buses which will take you to and from the ferry terminal, so that's helpful. It is very close to Senado Square and other major attractions in the city , so you can get around easily. The food isn't that great though.

The location is OK. I thought I picked a good location but really knowing what I know now, I would've stayed where all the big hotels are at and casinos. Good thing I was only in Macau for two days. But yeah, the rooms are OK and the service was great. I didn't try any food. The Macau weather wasn't great but the hotel has zero control over that.

The hotel is very elegant, the staff very nice and welcome, the room complete and very nice to enjoy the hotel. Our room is 1224, we spent 2 comfortable nights in here.
This hotel is strategic because it easy to access with public transportation, at the cross of the hotel you can play in the park, at the side 24hrs convenient store, you can take walk to some interesting of Macau site.
This hotel have an indoor swimming pool. With warm water and very nice pool for relax, the pool staff is very professional and very helpfull.
The breakfast is very nice and delicious, the restaurant staff is very professional and helpfull.
It was a really great experience in this Hotel. Thankyou Hotel Royal Macau.

Decent hotel in Macau with small casino inside, not a fancy hotel compare others in the town, simple breakfast, location not in prime location but still okay to get taxi, in front of hotel is a small garden

Roy the general manager was dismissive and extremely unhelpful. With two rooms available online and zero hospitality the manager was as helpful as a gas attendant. We left with money in hand and without options.

I checked in the hotel a couple of times before but I only had my first Shanghainese dinner here on September 14, 2017. The food quality as well as the services met customers' expectations. I guessed it must be value for money too, as the host was the Government's Legal Affairs Bureau!

Pleasant hotel staff, good location, nice rooms. The receptionist upgraded us to a high floor with a nice view. Whats even better, they provide a free mobile phone in the room, that you can bring out to tour around the city (with google maps). I'm very satisfied. 👍👍

They offer exclusive rooms with refreshing shower kits, spacious bath tubs along with a free portal mobile phone borrowing service called “handy”. Hotel Royal also has a small gym that only consists of 1 treadmill,2 treadmills that can have it's elevation adjusted and a few other muscle building machines. Beside the gym is the pool that has an approximate length and width of 25 m / 7m respectively. Underneath both of these wonderful facilities are sauna rooms which are free also.

I stayed there December 8 -14 2016. I was in Macau with my girlfriend, on a leisure vacation. The hotel is a quick 15 minute taxi ride from the airport. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Upon check-in, I was given a free cellphone to use during my stay. .The room was nice and clean.

Having arrived in Macau after traveling round China, I'd seen a variety of hotels, most of excellence standard. But the Royal reset the bar. Was slightly overwhelmed by the luxury, which I hadn't quite anticipated given its relative affordability. Facilities are excellent, and room service is swift and delicious, but still equitable. Sorry that I'm not staying in Macau longer, as staying here was quite the convalescent experience after a month of travel.

Its a good location. A old Hotel, makes new.
The Hotel must work on the room clean. Why don't take something in the freezer?
    I need to come back.

Nice location. Walking distance to most of Macau's tourist destinations. The breakfast is always crowded though, and some furniture looks like it needs good maintenance. Overall, the rooms are good and the staff are very helpful.

Located in residential area away from busy tourist area. Rooms are very nice and clean. No smoking smell at all. We are a frequent travellers and my husband is picky at hotel. He can't stop complimenting the hotel. Great value for the price. Would come back.
