Great place to go to especially if you want a change of view from all the casino hotels that abound Macau Peninsula and Cotai Strip. There's a public bus that will take you directly to this place so going here isn't a problem. The color of the sand isn't black but grey to dark grey. There weren't any people when we walked there and I, myself, don't even think that this beach is worth exploring especially for people who've been to more beautiful beaches.

However, Hac Sa beach is a trailhead. The trail (Trail of Coloane) that starts near Hac Sa Beach is the one that is definitely worth exploring because of the big colorful rocks you'll see. One of the most picturesque coastal trek that I've been to.

Hac Sa (Black Sand) is the only beach in Macau, located at the southern end of Coloane. Here you will find a fairly long, narrow strip of beach made up of a mix of black sand and yellow sand, which has been added to combat beach erosion.

The sand is more coarse than soft and isn't particularly attractive by comparison to what you may have seen elsewhere during your travels to this region of the world. The sea is also rather murky which makes swimming here discouraging. Visitors will much prefer their hotel pools instead of taking a dip in the South China Sea.

There is a Hac Ba Park with a few beach shops and promenade midway along the stretch of beach. A fair number of BBQ spots can be found along the road which winds long the beach. Some just bbq directly on the beach as well.

A couple of Portuguese restaurants can be tried at Hac Sa as well. These include the popular Fernandos and Miramar, the later found at the east end of Hac Sa Beach near the Grand Coloane Resort.

Overall, the beach is a nice retreat for locals who want to spend time along the sea and away from the busy city life of Macau. However, this is not a special beach or a place of much interest when it comes to tourism and sightseeing, especially for those with limited days and time in Macau.

Quite a nice beach on Macau. Good change of scenery from the casinos scattered all around Macau. The sand isn't actually black, it's more like grey (Not like the black sand in Iceland for example). Quite a nice little walk along the stretch of the beach. Has BBQ area and volleyball nets and playground for children. The bus stop is a little run down but no biggie. There's several restaurants there but not cheap. The sea water is like murky brown so I don't recommend swimming there but according to my geology friend, he said it's natural and not exactly just pollution (something to do with underwater sediments).

I would say it's just an ordinary beach which is out of maintenance. You see rusty stuff everywhere.

If I could give zero I would.

On April 20th 2016 we found the entire beach filled with the waste, including oil, that floats in the sea. Attempts to clean the beach are underway, but it was a sobering reminder of what's dumped in the oceans and what kills marine life.

My experience was better than any advert illustrating the harm we are doing to our planet.

PS: I've travelled to many places across the world and I've never seen a dirtier beach.

Wonderful and awsome, overtrated😃😃you can go there by bus .near the bus stop,there is a news shop you can buy the angel magazine(pretty cure)there ,i like this point very much .after you arrive to hac sa beach,you can eat the Fernando restaurant or barbecue there the view is 100%cool !
