  St. Anthony’s Catholic Church
  
  On 18th Feb. 1875, Bishop Paul Bigandet, M.E.P., laid the FOUNDATION STONE of this Church and consecrated it on 18th Nov. 1877.
  
  The Centenary (1877-18th Nov. 1977) DEDICATION of this Church was grandly celebrated on the 3rd , 4th and 5th of Dec. 1977, under the Sponsorship of late Rev. Fr. N. A. Santiago, Ph. L. (7th Parish Priest). The Statue of St. Anthony (on the Main Door) was put up in Remembrance of this Event.
  
  The Dedication Jubilee (125th year) of this Church was celebrated on 17th, 18th and 19th of Nov. 2002, during the period of the 10th Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. S.S. Arul. The NEW TABLET was set up at this Event, after the completion of the RENOVATION of this Church in 2002.
  
  From 1875 to 1946 this Parish was run by M.E.P. Priests of FOREIGN MISSION of PARIS, FRANCE. From 1946 till today, 2005 this Parish of St. Anthony is run by Indigenous Local Tamil Priests of Yangon Archdiocese, MYANMAR.
