Just checked in. So far so good. I'll update the rating at the conclusion of my stay. The update is that it is good price for money. I do recommend it. Their excursion desk can plan good itineraries at competitive prices. You can also hire a bike or scooter at great prices. The update is that Royal Bagan is the hotel to stay: small swimming pool to cool off, nice room, tasty delicious food and great staff.

I would give a 4.5 if possible. The restaurant is ok but not more than that. The service is excellent and the rooms are clean and spacious. They could use a few extra sun benches as they fill up immediately in the morning. The location is great! A few minute walk to the main restaurant street and only a short e-bike ride or walk to Old Bagan.

We stayed at the 5 bed dorm. It was really clean and cozy, with very comfy beds. The breakfast was awesome, every day the buffet varied. Really nice people at the reception, ready to help you out with any enquiry you may have. Totally recommend it

There are small but important things that will ruin your experience at the *6* bed dorm, yes 6 not 5 as advertised.
Water pressure is not enough
Staff can be rude
Half of power sockets doesn’t work
Be careful when paying in kyats they will charge you with their own exchange rate not the official one

I just stayed at 5 bed dormitory room. But it is very spacious letting me feel comfortable. Breakfast is better that I expected. One thing I hope this hotel to fix is "water pressure" when taking shower.

I arrived at 8am in the morning and i got already my room, that's a very early check in. The same on departure, as i left again with a night bus i hat the chance to shower next to the pool.
The room was big, clean with a hard bed, shower was very big too and the shampoo and shower gel had a very good smell. Wifi is strong, but i had to login very often again, i guess every time i left the hotel and when i came back. Staff was great. Prices for bikes and ebikes, tours and buses where the same as in other places. Breakfast was a buffet with a bit of everything and completely ok for me. The pool is s nice way to cool down from the heat of the afternoon.
All in all great 3 days in Bagan.

Offers shared bedroom at a very affordable price aside the usual hotel rooms. Good breakfast selection although not much of a large variety.
Hotel provides e-bike services, good reception but the receptionists only have a very basic command in English. They provide Mt Popa tours as well.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Hotel is generally clean. Asked a lot from the receptionists over a few days and they were always very helpful and polite!

Hotel installed with modern facilities but some are not well functioning. Receptionists and other staffs are friendly and helpful but they are in chaos by management staffs, guests sometime could be confused with different information by them. Bad wifi. Breakfast normal but taste below than other local food stalls.

Very helpful and friendly staff. A nice vibe and good breakfast - and a nice pool! Good wifi and close to a lot of restaurants. We rented electric scooter (aka "e-bikes") for 7000 per day.

For being in old Bagan this was a very comfortable modern hotel. The lobby, hotel, rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very good, had numerous Western options: so much fresh fruit. The staff were so polite and courteous. The on-site scooter rental is definitely fun and worth it to travel between temples and get around.

We enjoyed this place very much! Clean rooms, helpful staff, pretty good breakfast, rooftop swings & bikes for Bagan adventures. Just a pity about the slow internet and temperamental aircon but sure that all add to the authentic experience 😊

Modern hotel with nice rooms and a small pool in back. Very good free breakfast. Hotel is close to some excellent restaurants and Buddhist temples in Bagan. E-bikes and laundry service also nearby. Staff was good but not great. Poor WiFi.

Quite a nice, comfortable, clean place. But they only had two key cards for our room of six people (dorm style). They were quite awkward/shifty about giving me one, saying they didn't have one, even when I knew someone had just given his back when checking out.
