3000 kyats to get in. The cave is small and popular with worshipers, but you can climb through to a back entrance (if you bring a light). The back entrance is also reachable by a trail around the left of the mountain. The best part is the steps leading up to a small pagoda up the mountain from where you get stunning panoramic views to the north, east, and south.

This is the smallest "cave" that you can visit, but has the most expensive fees, so go figure. Many of the Buddhas here are carved into the mountain itself, and there is another side area you can climb to get kind of nice views of the surrounding area. Definitely NOT one of the top 10 caves or things to do in Hpa-An though.

The cave is not deep at all but you can see a lots of sculptured Buddha statues on the walls of the cave. A good place to worship. You can watch the views from the top of the cave if you climb up the over 100 steps stairs. There are also a few monkeys; lovely and polite.

Really beautiful temple situated at the entrance of a cave.
A lot of tiny Buddha's statues are sculpted in the rock, this is amazing. The cave is not deep at all.

There's also a nice view point, if you have the courage to climb the 100's steps.

Entrance fee of 3000 Kts per pers (no more fee for photos).

This cave felt a bit like Disneyland. It was the last stop of a day tour, so I might have been suffering form a cave a Buddha overdose. But in my opinion there are prettier caves around Hpa-An

Kaw Gon Cave is located on Hpa-An, Kayin State, Myanmar. This limestone cave (AD.7) is historical and cultural heritage of Myanmar. You will see Buddha Statues which were curved on the cave's walls.

An ancient cave complex with thousands of Buddha statues! Please remember to take off your footwear upon entering the holy grounds. Climb the flight of stairs to the summit of the cave rock formation for the amazing panoramic views of the surrounding fields.

KawGon Cave Myanmar

This amazing cave temple of 7th century was inaccessible to outsiders until recently due to insurgency in the area. Only SUVs or four-wheel-drive pickup trucks can be driven on the dirt road to the caves. Most local people are unaware of its existence. Some people heard about it but do not know how to get there. Over 60 years, this area was under the control of KNU rebels, fighting for an independence state. Now, the area is relatively safe to visit, but the road to the caves is really tough. It took us more than 2 hours to get there by car from Thaton, the nearest town, which is only 32 miles away. There is no electricity in the cave, however, it is well illuminated by natural light during the day time.

KawGon Cave, in Kayin State is a limestone cave full of ancient and modern pagodas. The 7th Century artworks of tiny clay Buddhas plastered on the walls of the cave is an amazing sight. On the left hand side of the entrance is a flight of steps (about 250 steps in total) for a panoramic view of the surroundings. Very nice!

PS: For a visit to shrines in Myanmar, a pair of slippers, a plastic bag to keep your shoes, wet tissue and a bottle of purified water will go a long way. Over-the-knee attire is a must.

We visited 27.Dec.2015. This Cave is 130 feet length and 70 feet wide, only about 25 feet in height means it will not be very large cave.
No specific history indicate that limestone caves were decorated by Mon queen MOTE TA MA , wife of the Mon King Manuha.
King Manuha was arrested by Bagan King Anawyahta then queen MOTE TA MA fled and hided in this cave and she has been established in this filming.
At AD1827 British Ambassador John carrot ford , in 1835 Richard Tan, in 1836 Saint Judson, visited and studied. There are seven ink letters and one stone letter.

Cost is 3000ks to get in. You get a taste of the inside from viewing outside, and a small taste if you went to saddang caves, but this one is very beautiful. Many white people bypass the payment to the top, and many are very disrespectful, always wearing shoes and tank tops. Please don't do that, its very rude especially when they have signs. Monkeys are at the top, not aggressive but tourist feeding doesn't seem to be common. Takes about 2-300 steps to the top, careful of stones. View is really spectacular!

Very scenic, amazing details, lots of photo ops. Buddhas and carvings like I haven't seen elsewhere. Only downside is that for 3000 kyat entrance fee (for foreigners) it's not all that big. You can be done in 10-15min.
