Beautiful hotel and nicely located beside the lake. However, the hotel caught fire in October 2017 and was badly damaged during our stay there.

Place is now burnt down and closed. There was big fire end of 2017. Went there and guard told this.

Very nice hotel with a classic feel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is tasty and not overly expensive. The decor of the hotel is very nice. The pool is also very cool, although there are alot of crows around

Beautiful hotel, also was one of the most expensive in Yangon. It burnt down beyond repair early this morning, so will probably be closed indefinitely.

Real Luxury build with teak wood. It's attractive to foreigners. But, it's gone. Burnt out today early morning.

Nice atmospheric building, great location, friendly staff but short from what one expects from a hotel of this standart - poor TV and wifi connection, drainage not working, unattentive room preparation (worn flip-flops, used body lotion etc.). It's OK but only

This hotel has comfortable rooms and a lovely layout to explore. The beat thing about the hotel is the staff. They are very helpful, kind and make the stay memorable.

Yes, here you get part of history in the old teak hotel. Situated right on the Kandawgyi lake with a wonderful view, excellent staff and different choices for food in the various restaurants .
Easy to get to the centre of the old town in Yangon from here or a stroll up to visit the pagoda. I have stayed here many times and will be back soon.response / report this review -

Old hotel in nice grounds by a lake. The breakfast was amazing, but there is an overriding scent of damp around the building which takes the shine off.

Nice breakfast and clean, lovely hotel with great view of the lake. Walking distance to Shwedagon Pagoda but you’ll need a cab to the city centre. Wifi could be better.

This place is plush. The staff well drilled and courteous. We have the Governor Suite which is lovely with a view of the Shwedagon Pagoda. Surprised by flowers, wine and fruit bowl in the room - also surprised by the prices in the various restaurants here as they are London prices eg $18 for a burger on room service! It would have to be good at this price. Overall though I am impressed and would recommend it without concerns.

Decent old-fashioned hotel with prestigeous trail back to 70 yrs. Teak wood posts in building and scenic front to Kandawgyi (Royal Lake) at the heart of Rangoon city. 10 mins walk to famous and landmark Shwedagon Pagoda from hotel..
