Here's my two cents of my experience with Sandalwood Hotel:-
About the hotel
1. I noted that I will be arriving early and I really appreciate the early check-in and the room is ready!
2. All the staff [from bell-boy, guard, reception, cleaners, restaurant staff] whom I met are friendly, kind and helpful which make my stay very pleasant. Though most of them I would need to use sign language (as they have limited understanding of English). Keep it up!
3. Thumb up for the breakfast!
4. My room is clean and spacious!
5. I notice that each floor has different decoration, try to explore it, well done!
6. City view is ok. Do not expect "wow/ amazing ". It is not like other big cities e.g. London / Shanghai/ etc after all.
Area of improvement:-
1. The hotel entrance is at the side with stairs so it may not be friendly for disable person. You may need to get help from the security guard.
2. I would really encourage other staff [aside from reception] to receive some language training.
3. Throughout Myanmar, at least the 6 cities/town which I have visited, [ALL] hotels do not accept credit card and it is very common. If you can make it available, it will be a plus point, but if you can't, you may need to spell it out, most travelers will understand.
4. TV location inside the room, a bit weird.
5. May consider providing lotion.
6. May consider providing welcome drink.
7. Local Grab car may not know this hotel, they might think the other Grand United.
Hotel location and surrounding
1. This is what makes this hotel worth the value to stay.
2. Located near to everything ~ China Town, food stalls, restaurants, gadgets, temple, city hall, etc.
3. In short, really good area!
Small rooms, but a good price. Location is good too - walking distance from the markets. Breakfast good but not exceptional. Great service - the front desk organized a cheap taxi for our airport transfer for the early morning hours.
Nice budget hotel. Locate in the China town area, not far from Sule pagoda, about 600 m. The lobby is on the 4th floor, staffs r friendly and informative. The room is clean and convenient . Free breakfast. You’ll hearing the traffic sounds and peoples in the street so don’t stay here if you r light sleeper type.
Feels a bit confined and rooms are pretty basic, but it's ok. Hot breakfast items are not hot, but good choice.
Very nice and clean and very nice breakfast
Ok hotel. Room is musty smelling, but clean. Very noisy outside in the street. There is a stand outside with pictures of monks where someone with a microphone is talking and playing music from 8am all day. Another person also shaking a pot of money for donations constantly. At night there was a religious gathering at the other end of the street with another microphone and a guy talking for hours late into the night.
I think that hotel has 3-4 branches and this one is one of them, no parking, but it is easy to take taxi in those area. Room is nice starting from fourth floor to 8 floor.
Tiny rooms but great customer service
Decent basic accomplishment good breakfast staff is nice
Clean comfortable decent breakfast
Good value, good service, at the price.
good service :)
A very clean and affordable hotel
DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL. Their credit card machines did not work, forcing us to pay cash, which happens, except all their prices are listed in USD (instead of Kyat) and they forced us to use an artificially-inflated exchange rate when paying cash, which is basically a way of artificially inflating both the hotel price and the price of anything that you order from the restaurant, etc. They refused to back down from the extortionate exchange rate and explained that it was "hotel policy" to rip off their guests, after forcing then to pay cash because of problems with the hotel's machines. We felt very cheated. We will never stay here again and recommend for everyone else to do the same.
Very good location
Polite staff. There was some kind of event near by, but the widows did not provide adequate soundproofing, so we could not sleep at night. The bathroom floor was extremely slippery.
Asked for room on a higher floor facing street, and they did gave me room 803.
Hotel offers airport transfer for $25 , u can get it at the airport for 10000 (less than 10$) there is a counter there. Also if you go outside u will get it for cheaper.
I asked for a late check out as a genius traveller and i have been granted but after some negotiations.
There are lots of ants in the room, TV I can't get more than one channel. Ac was very good. Minibar and safe(not fixed to the wall) also available.
Acceptable wifi at hotel, first day it was very bad but when I complain it improved greatly, "don't know if this was a coincidence or what"
Paid 100000 for the 2 nights ( cash, in advance)
Excellent breakfast, free bottled water in room, free coffee and tea.
Stayed from 5 to 7 May
