The pagoda itself I don't think is the true attraction, but rather the commanding views from the top. Mon state is beautiful, and on a clear day you can see for miles. It's true that the rock looks like it will roll down the hill, but after taking that in, and the stream of men placing the gold leaf on the rock, wander around some and just take in the views. Worth the trip up!

Loved the 12km hike up there was not for the faint hearted. The walk was better than the Golden Rock but the achievement was great to get there.

One of the Myanmar Wonder, the golden Rock, is very famous for it glory and natural sightseeing. For those who like hiking , natural worth seeing views and nature lover must visit there. A lot of waterfall, stream, mountains and some kind of religious food are offering in there. Not only that there are alot of cheap motels and hotels, souvinr shops, knowledge and some historical facts are very famous. I would like to recommend to hike the mountain for teens and those who love nature rather than taking buses.

Kyaiktiyo Pagoda also known as Golden Rock) is a well-known Buddhist pilgrimage . It is a small pagoda built on the top of a granite boulder .
It was believed to have been floating in the air without touching the ground. The golden rock name come from the floating stone being cover with Gold left offer by the local citizen.

The Golden Rock on Mount Kyaiktiyo is a rock that seems to defy gravity. According to legend, the rock is only supposed to be held by a hair of Buddha. Therefore, many locals make a pilgrimage to this rock to pray. For this reason, you should not plan a visit on public holidays or the weekend.
While the men attach gold leaf to the rocks and can wish for something, women have to admire the rock from a few meters away. They are denied access to the rock. Fascinating - because the rock seems to slip every moment.

A must see in Myanmar.Be prepared for a adventurous journey in a modified truck.This is not for the faint hearted.It is a steep mountain road.Don’t look for comforts.
But once-you arrive you will feel this the place where even gods visit from sky
So mythical and beautiful.Be careful when you go closer to golden rock,it can be slippery if you walk down

Foreigners need to pay a entrance fee of 10,000 kyats per head. The view on top was spectacular! Very long history behind this pagoda. There are few hotels around the pagoda. You can sit down at the Cafe enjoying the view and weather. Unfortunately we didn't stay till sunset.

What more interesting is the journey up to the summit. All visitors must take the truck bus from the base station. 2000kyats per head per way. The road conditions very narrow and dangerous. Sitting on truck is like taking a roller coaster. And we are sandwiched with more than 40 passengers. What a experience!

Kyite Htee Yoe , Golden Rock , is one of the most famous place in Myanmar . Many visitors are visit to this place in winter season ( Nov to Feb) . In summer ( March to May) , local visitors are visit to this place because they have long vacation time. In rainy season , most of the shop are closed and also the visitors are not too much even as summer.

Interesting experience!!!!. especially the truck/bus ride up and down! It's not the most comfortable drive!

Having said that, the place is amazing, with some spectacular views of surrounding mountainous area Definitely worth seeing. Do respect the Buddhists traditions even if you are not Buddhist! Lots of stalls to buy all kinds of things, from food to souvenirs Seeing the porters carry every thing is fascinating to see!

It's unique & different then anything else. The view is great, also a cool little village up there. But if you want to see the sunset be prepared to pay double to go back down on the trucks. The last one leaves at 6pm.

Must visit. Journey up to mountain top before reaching Golden Rock is fun, feels
Like roller coaster. About 30 min up the mountain, you have to squeeze with the locals. Golden Rock is located right at the end of the walk. Nice panorama view. Go during sunset. Will think afternoon is too hot.

Amazing magical place to visit. Took the bus ride up to the temple with hundreds of pilgrims who will sleep overnight to watch sunrise. Incredible experience!
