Incredible nature. One must visit Galichnik a village 17 km of Mavrovo. There you look for "Baba i Dede". Very decent place with clean rooms, wifi and delicious "out of this world" but yet home made dishes. 1500m altitude. They offer mountain biking, horse riding and hiking.

Beautiful place! Don't miss Galicnik. The drive there is the most beautiful place in Macedonia. Nothing like it. Only place that I have seen to be similar is Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

A mountain natural park in Macedonia, full of rich vegetation, rivers and Mavrovo lake. The highest point is mount Korab, in the Albanian part of the national park. A must see is the Mavrovo lake and the ski center in the winter! With cheap prices you can ski or snowboard there. Really great and with nice views!

Great nature. All in one tourism: lake, skiing, unique villages, monasteries, mountaineering. Snowy winters, pleasant summers.

Exploring this nature reserve by car means to discover the artificial socialist-dug lake and more important the surrounding hills and mountains with sometimes spectacular views into valleys and over mountain ridges. Definitively worthwhile visiting is the Jovan Bigorski monastery. If you are lucky enough and without haste you might also talk to the monks and get an idea of their live. Driving to the small village of Galičnik at the down-hill edge of a mountain will lead you to a dead end. On your way you may come across some flocks of sheep.

Really pretty and perfect for a drive. But we didn't get to find a place to hike. But I've heard skiing is fantastic here in the winter.

A nice natural park with dramatic canyons and steep mountains. almost no tourists, so not a lot of information for hikers, but the tracks are clear and usually indicated.

'REPORT ALL THE DAMAGES YOU SEE WITHIN THE PROTECTED AREA TO THE RANGER`S SERVICE OR TO THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE PROTECTED AREA.'

Therefore we are letting you know that people are destroying nature around the lake, just for economical reasons. This is part of the National Park, there shouldn't be economical activities organized by private people or companies within a National Park. Otherwise it's just an AMUSEMENT PARK.
Save your wildlife and natural beauty while it's still possible!! At the rate they are building now, in a few years, it won't be attractive anymore to eco-tourists nor wildlife
