Very nice nature! There are good restaurant boats for short voyage and kayaks to rowing. The trail along dam is unique! It leads to cave.

The nature is beautiful. The restaurants are overpriced, but the road leading there is terrible. We waited for an hour just to come back. If they want a lot of people there, they need to think about that narrow road.

Highly recommended visit. Sheer cliffs dive into the emerald green lake fed by the Treska river. Cool breeze will keep you fresh even in the warm summer days. Walking trail takes you along the whole length of the lake of approx 10km. Take a boat ride to the Vrelo cave, whose underwater cave system is one of the biggest in Europe.

Very interesting place to visit. you should definitely try the walk from the bottom of the lake to Saint Nicholas church at an hour by walk. you have a peaceful rest one arrived there. you can then go down through the opposite path till matka lake where you have cross the lake with a boat ( around 30/40 denars) and have lunch in the 2 or 3 restaurants from which several boats can bring you to vrelo cave

Matka has one of the most beautiful sights in the surrounding area of Skopje. It is a home of the deepest underwater cave in Europe, the cave called Vrelo.

Beautiful, rewarding views can be experienced of the canyon along a safe and undulating rock pathway. Try to experience it early in the morning before the mass of fellow tourists arrive.

Excellent place right on the banks of Matka lake, a bit pricey, more than before, excellent service, good meals but pricey and lack of choice. Decent range of wines and spirits though. Ic you are in Skopje for a day or two, this is definitely one of the things you have to see. If you want you can rent a room in the same place and you can rent cayak or boat trip around the lake

It's extremely lovely and charming place!

What a beautiful gem! A beautiful hotel at a stunning location! Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Price ridiculously cheap.
The downside is the lack of air-con in the room and the relatively poor breakfast. Also the very small car-park is constantly full, requiring to park far.
Nevertheless highly recommended and we would definitely come back!

If you are in the Skopje and searching for good place to relax, be out of city, then canyon Matka is the right place. You can enjoy sipping hot drinks like tea, coffee in the restaurant. You can hike. You can take great boat ride and sea one of the caves in canyon. Cave with three rooms. Listen bats songs. Restaurant service is quite ok. Just don't be shocked that it is little bit slow. They also enjoy relaxing atmosphere.
    Let nature speak to you!

Lovely location, but rather touristy and overpriced. Restaurant was very expensive. Boat ride to cave was good though not particularly extensive. Got charged 50 MKD instead of 30 to cross the canyon on the ferry, even though the sign clearly states 30.

Great place to chill outside the city chaos and an awsome weekend getaway during the summer. You can get a boat to the Vrelo cave and you can rent a kayak each for around 5 euros. There is a nice restaurant by the lake and a small very old church here.

The canyon is lovely! It starts getting busy around midday.
There is a cafe/ restaurant, you can rent Kajaks and go on a boat tour down the canyon. There is also a pretty good path along the side of the canyon. Definitely worth checking out!
It's a bit difficult to get there, either by Taxi (~10€) or bus for which one needs a prepaid plastic ticket from the corner store or bus station.

Good experience to do! You can arrive there by bus from Skopje, after this you have to walk. Try it at the first morning.

Very nice scenery. Could develop it significantly further through:
    - Better information posts with maps, information about parking etc
    - Better garbage facilities
    - Repair damaged fences (!) and remove garbage frequently

One of the most beautiful places in Skopje. Astonishingly beautiful landscape with the lake and the river. There are possible kayak and boat rides across the river. You can always a walk across the canyon because of the many paths available. The restaurant and the food are great. But at the weekend there are a lot of people visiting so it is crowded. Overall, the canyon is a must visit if you are in Skopje!
