While this is an otherwise pleasant place there are some things you should consider before staying here. The charming man pictured at the door wants to sell you hash on arrival, but there is more.
On checking in the person doing it tried to upsell us to a larger room for €30 a night. We weren't interested at which point he confessed to having double booking our room. We insisted on no charge for the upgrade and moved into our perfectly adequate room the next day when it was vacant.
Another annoyance is that the staff is always trying to sell you tours, rides, whatever, usually over priced.
If you know this going in and give a firm no then your stay will be relatively pleasant.response / report this review -

Incredible. Amazing staff, offered to help us with shopping assistance, activity booking, and even a complimentary guide for a sunrise hike. Rooms are spectacular and gorgeous. Breakfast is fantastic, vast, and special.

눇Everything about riad gharnata was lovely. I really felt at home in the riad gharnata. Great location, wonderful comfortable hotel and outstanding . personnel is very nice and was very helpful an thanks specially of youssef! Riad is perfectly decorated! A lot of attention to details - the riad to serving of breakfast. youssef who try to do their best for their guests. in the room. The shower in the room in the best we had during our Moroccan travel. The room and the hotel itself - very clean (spotless!) One more positive thing - good wi-fi! Also the best that we had in Morocco. And the terrace is just perfect - best view of chefchaouen . We had a lovely time at beautiful riad gharnata. The staff was very friendly and helpful in recommending spots to eat and visit. The breakfast was unbeatable. Great location, outstanding service, lovely rooms. View from the roof is super, I hope to return someday. Thank you youssef and mohamed for everything !

We had a wonderful time at Riad Gharnata! The building itself was beautiful and very clean. It had a very nice outdoor terrace. Our room was the perfect size for two of us. The location was great. It was a close walk to the center of town but still very quiet at night. The breakfast that was included was delicious and very filling. The staff was amazing. Youssef was so helpful in giving us recommendations on what to do and helping us with anything we needed. We had a wonderful stay and hope that we can come back soon!

This place has something magical about it. I stay in countless hotels around the world and some are good, some are less good.
Riad Ghanata does not get five stars from me because it is perfect, it gets it because it really makes you feel at home.
through sheer simplicity and effortless beauty of the surroundings.
The staff are so helpful, kind and generous. They will go our of their way to keep things happening. Internet, pots of morrocco tea and whatever you need shall manifest.
The rooms are of decent standard, clean and tidy with breathtaking views over the rif mountains.
you can enjoy complete peace and serenity, expert early in the morning when the call for prayer is on. However this does not disturb, if you are in chefchaouen and not accepting of the spiritual nature of this city, you shouldn't be there at all.
This was a breath of fresh air and a lovely break from all those corporate stale chain hotels around the world.
This is something different and magical and I strongly advise a stay here for an authentic experience of morccan hospitality and generosity.

I will tell all my friends and family about it. youssef is also a trekking guide. He can help you with many questions. He is probably the friendliest host you will meet during your trip. :-) You can trust the staff 100 %
