Will not recommend. We’ve been to truly fine dining restaurants in US and Europe. Apart from the dishes were nicely decorated (that’s also the pictures on google), the food was very heavy-flavored that was almost conflicting, and the waiter was constantly trying to sell.

To benchmark, the “fine dining” restaurants in Marrakech with way way better food is priced at $50-$70 for 2 persons. This dinner at NUR was $160 with very confused flavors and strong bombs. We call restaurants fine dining not because of the price or decorated dishes, it’s becasue how the chef could manage to respect the true flavor of food and work with it.

Nice atmosphere and the restaurant was packed when we got there. Overall while the experience was generally well executed, we felt the quality was not aligned with the price. Leaving us feeling overcharged and underwhelmed.

Although each dish was tasty (but often a bit too salty), the same Chinese sauce was used in 3 dishes in a 8 course meal, and other ingridients were used several times. There is no table cloth or knife rest, yet we are given only one set of cutlery through the meal. It means we had to put our cutlery directly on the table.

The biggest problem was communication. The servers, while we applaud their efforts, simply didn’t have enough English to explain what we were eating. (And we recognize perhaps we should learn Arabic.) At one point they plopped the plate down and simply said — I don’t know what this is, before laughing and walking away. Ok, fine for a $10 meal, but unacceptable for a $70 meal.

The pacing was very uneven and we ended up wondering multiple times if we had been forgotten.

Overall, we recognize what Nur is trying to do and think the potential is great, but the current execution leaves much to be desired. And as such can’t recommend it in its current form.

(Be careful, many of the 5-star reviews are for the restaurant that was here *before* Nur.)

I really wanted to love Nur after reading the review in the New York Times but … it just isn't ready for prime time as of January 2018.

The cost / deliciousness ratio is misaligned (we had many incredible dinners in Fes for 200dh for three but of course did not come to Nur looking for a "deal"), and further derailed by a lack of capable staff (several dishes weren't explained at all). I'm only being critical because they are aiming for a high bar and charge 10x what dinner would cost in any other nearby restaurant. As such you'd expect them to live up to that level of quality.

Perhaps the overall experience will improve later this year, so don't completely write Nur off. It's exciting to imagine this kind of tasting restaurant firing on all cylinders but, for now, it's difficult to recommend.

One of the best restaurants I've been. Amazing and unexpected Morrocan food (not Tajin).

Tremendous experience. Artisanal preparation, exquisite execution and superior design. Tremendous exploration of Moroccan taste in an explorative structure. This was truly worth the journey to Fes alone. A very carefully crafted tasting menu that explores the tastes and textures of Morocco. So impressed! The chef is a star and this place will certainly land some Michelin Stars in the near future. Catch it while it is accessible

This is a brave new Morocco! I had never tried shark but it was amazing, served with caviar and fermented soy creme fraiche, just over the top. The space is very alive with colorful art, parrots and a marble waterfall. Not just a gem, a diamond!

We had an amazing experience at Nür Restaurant! We were the only people in the restaurant and were treated like kings :) If you get tired of cous-cous and tajine, this is the spot! We had a tasty 5 course menu of fusion cuisine from Mexico and Morocco. The restaurant is elegantly decorated in B&W and it's an oasis in the middle of the Medina.
Price was around 1000Dh for two with beer, over Moroccan standard but worth it every cent!

As of 9/2/16 this place has closed down and is no longer open for business.

We went to the Ruined Garden which is nearby and it was excellent. Really friendly staff and a great dinner.
