Christmas in the Sahara Desert - a must see, it’s an experience unlike any other. From the caring staff to the camel ride to the sunset, my family enjoyed every min of it & a major experience for my 5 yr daughter. Nick, the owner of Erg Chigaga Luxury Camp has put together an amazing operation.

We almost didn't include the Sahara on our trip because it seemed so far away and takes so much time, but that ended up being part of the highlight! The camp itself is stunning - 90 minutes off the last paved road and isolated in the dunes. It's just a few tents, but they've made it over-the-top luxury, with the staff making amazing food and drinks, offering camel rides, cocktails on the dunes at sunset, etc. You can be adventurous, or enjoy hammocks in the shade during the day, and under the stars at night. Spend a couple days. We're so glad we went to the more isolated Chigaga area vs. Erg Chebbi, where they say the camps are packed in so tight you hear each other.

It was founded and is run by Nick and Bobo, with Nick running business remotely, and Bobo managing the camp. Both wonderful people. Besides the great camp, let them help you with trip planning. When we told Nick we'd like to visit after Fes, he said he'd take care of everything. He got us a private car and all the hotels and meals en-route. It can be done in 2 long days from Fes, or 1 from Marrakech, but take an extra day on each end. That allowed a leisurely sightseeing tour through rural Morocco and the Atlas Mountains. Every Riad and meal was 5-star and the drive/tour itself ended up being a highlight. I'm told Nick does the route himself periodically just to find and check everything and everyone from the drivers to the hotel seems to love him. I now feel sorry for the people who go to Morocco and just see the big cities

A must do
The tent had its own shower-
Had all the luxuries of 5 star hotel room.
Food was amazing
Service excellent
The desert itself was an amazing spiritual experience

We stayed here on our honeymoon for 2 nights and it was just incredible. There aren’t enough words to describe how stunning this camp & the desert is. The sunrise & sunset were breathtaking. And our driver Jamal was so nice & made us feel extremely comfortable, making sure we always had more than enough water & even had a box of chocolates for us. Nick was super easy to communicate with & made sure every detail was perfect for us. The camp also surprised us with a bottle of champagne on top of one of the sand dunes for sunset. It was just a magical experience & worth every penny. I would highly recommend the 2 nights, as 1 night would definitely not be enough.
