Great meal and reasonably priced. Quite authentic in the middle if the Fez medinah.

Very friendly family run restaurant. The food is great! The ceiling of the restaurant is spectacular. The seats where not very comfortable but did not spoil our evening.

The food was delicious and we finally got to eat Moroccan food that was not Tangine (although it is offered). The hosts were very nice and witty. You have got to try the chefs specialty! Too good not to try.

Finally found this restaurant which I had been told was one of the best in the médina if you manage to find it. The locals claim its ‘closed’ because no commission is given. If you phone the restaurant they actually come and pick you up at no extra cost. They make delicious food, they speak English and French very well and make truly delicious Moroccan pastilla, tajines and couscous. Not to mention their starters which are offered on the house with special breads. Very good value for money.

One of our best meals in Morocco so far. Our host was incredible and the food was delicious. A definite stop for dinner for a traditional meal at a descent price. They also serve wine....which can be hard to come by in Morocco

We both had the turkey kabobs for 150 durhams which included Moroccan salad to start, Turkey skewers, and fruit dessert to finish!

Absolutely delicious food and beautiful Moroccan décor but a rather small space. A romantic dinner for 8 perhaps!

In the oldest city in Morocco, you’ll uncover a diamond quality restaurant with all the charm and hospitality the country is known for. While the term restaurant is used loosely, as Dar Hatim is actually the ground floor of the Bouaa family home, guests can experience a simple, yet delicious dinner that boasts all the flavors and traditions of Moroccan culture.

Named after their son, Hatim, Fouad and wife Karima transformed their sitting room and courtyard into an intimate restaurant, delivering a gastronomical experience rich with family recipes handed down for generations. In fact, Karima cooks in the kitchen along with her mother-in-law, so this is about as authentic Moroccan as it gets.

I booked a table for myself at Dar Hatim, and was pleasantly surprised when Fouad himself came to pick me up. I’m grateful, as their lovely home is in the Lahoudi section of Fez, and having a local navigate for me was much appreciated. When I arrived at their home, Karima greeted me and explained the menu, which is a traditional three-course fare.

The building has seen three generations of the family, and I felt like a member of their own. They were so friendly and welcoming; one might assume that their restaurant-home would be humble and simple. However, the décor is stunning, with a painted-wood ceiling, tiled walls, and woodwork created by Fouad’s brother.

As far as the food, there’s nothing about home cooked Moroccan food that isn’t amazing. I started with Fes style Moroccan salads, an abundance of different vegetables, spices and colors. The main dish of a fresh from the oven Moroccan Pastilla was perfectly flaky, the meat tender with just the right amount of seasoning .It also came with the powdered sugar on the side which allowed me to decide just how sweet I wanted it to be, a welcome change from other restaurants. A simple fruit salad of sliced orange, banana and apple ended the meal. A great experience!

First of all you have to cross quite a labyrinth to find the place, but when even there the owners of the house an restaurant welcome you in all kinds of languages fluently spoken. Menu's are not cheap, but the quality is good. Choose one of the four menus and you will not regret.

The starter was great and the setting quite nice. We were coming on the recommendation of our book and were looking forward to the main dishes. Turns out they were plain and bland. No spices or anything that would make them remarkable. I would do better.

If I could give 10 stars, I would. Incredible food, service, and ambiance from top to bottom. Our hostess was the most delightful lady! So attentive and funny, my fave hurt from smiling.

And the food! There were 4-5 options, three courses (family style). We were told the first course is a "Moroccan salad, cooked." What we got were about ten little bowls of the most incredible veggies: eggplant/aubergine, beans, potatoes, green beans, beets, rice, etc... It was a meal on its own! For our mains we chose 7-vegetable couscous (with chicken) and homemade chicken pastry/pie. So. Good. Dessert was a surprise: caramel flan and ice cream.

The meals run from 150-250 each. More expensive than other restaurants, but excellent food, excellent service (super relaxed, no touts or hustling), beautiful restaurant.

It's very tricky to find, so contact the restaurant and they can maybe send out a guide for you. Otherwise, someone will help you... then show you their shop (rinse lather repeat). Also, there are only 5 or 6 tables, so it may be worth it to make a reservation. We didn't, and didn't have any trouble at all being seated.

Honestly, just go to this restaurant. It's the high-quality home-cooked meal you want to experience in Morocco, made with the freshest ingredients... but without the hassle. Also, there's AC in the dining room! (A godsend in July).

Why are you still reading this, go eat already!
