This place is delightful. Even though it was raining and cold, the space was well protected and had a cosy feel. We arrived around 8:30pm on Saturday and were seated and placed an order almost immediately, although others arriving later faced more of a wait.
The soup was really tasty, thick and hot, the best we tasted all weekend. The kefta and fish tajines were sizzling and delicious. For dessert, we waited a long time, but the honey covered flan and Moroccan pastries were the perfect sweet finale worth waiting for. Along with coffees and teas for two the bill was 196dh.
Thank you Sofia, and your friendly staff for a very satisfying meal.

I had a café au lait, a mint tea, and the chicken with olives tagine. It was all very delicious. I had wanted to return to try more food, but didn't end up having the time to do so. But, it was good enough to beckon me back! Lovely, quaint cafe!

You’ll taste the best and most creative Street Food Restaurant in Chefchaouen which is Head and Shoulders above the rest… and its run by Women! (except for the owner’s son that helps her on busy days)
Restaurant Sofia has by far the best food you will find in Chefchaouen. Please don't just take my word for it. find out for yourself. If you have tried the REST; now try the BEST. But make sure you go to the right Restaurant as a few of the photos featured here on Google Maps ARE NOT form Restaurant Sofia, they belong to another Restaurant further up the stairs.
Many customers think they are eating at Sofia's and end up disappointed with the food as they find out that they are in reality eating or have eaten at a joint called Sindibad.

We ate at Cafe Sofia three times during our 3 day stay in Chefchaouen and probably would have eaten there more if we had found it earlier. Both hariras are flavorful and comforting and are a wonderful way to begin a meal. We also tried the vegetable sandwich and couldn’t believe how tasty it was. The pastella with chicken, almond, and cinnamon was incredible and well worth the wait to prepare. We also tried the vegetable couscous and the kefta tagine. We certainly sampled our share of tagine and couscous while in Morocco and found that most were very bland so we were pleasantly surprised when Sofia’s were bursting with flavor. The kefta is out of this world. The teas are lovely and the coffee is strong. The family who runs the restaurant is so sweet and the service is impeccable. Don’t miss this gem.

Great food. Try the fish tagine, it's perfect! Maybe the best food we had in Morocco. Cheap and generous portions.

Wouldn't let me sit and wait the 30 minutes until they opened for dinner. Oh, well.

Opens at 7:30pm for dinner. Fills up quickly. Service was a bit chaotic as there was only one main waiter with about ten tables to work. If you are among the first to be waited on at 7:30, you'll receive fairly prompt service. The food was good overall and excellent for the price. Tajine 35-50dh.

Food is well priced and very tasty. They have a good selection of options for everyone including vegan. My only reason for not giving a fifth star is the service was just ok.

Quite nice food and friendly staff. I think that Tripadviser's ranking of this as the second best place in town might set expectations way higher than they ought to be, but the vegetarian options are nice.

Very good food. I was expecting something more of the location. Service is OK, but there is room for improvement.
