When you first approach the hotel down a cobbled street in the heart of Old Town it looks old and quaint. The lobby and common areas also add to this feeling.

Unfortunately the rest was mediocre. The bedroom and bathroom were nothing special and didn't feel anything like as cozy as the rest of the hotel. There's quite a bit of noise at night from people passing the street below even with the windows closed.

Breakfast was also disappointing when we got there at 9:30 there was no juice, milk, or hot meat items left. The waiter brought out an egg each and that was it with just some cold meat and cheese remaining. Overall the hotel wasn't terrible but we would try something else in future.

This is a small hotel with an excellent location in the Riga Old Town, just steps away from the most famous sights. People at the front desk have a really good knowledge of English. If you're driving, ask about the small lot on the nearest corner, which is private but can be arranged for about 20 €/night. Good buffet breakfast with usual Latvian fare. Nice rooms.

A great place to stay in a middle of the old city, the one and only issue is that there are no AC units since the building is old and not allowed to be drilled or so but, it bothers for only two days a year, so it's ok

Not sure why this hotel is 4 stars - unfriendly service, the rooms are quite old, no real amenities in the hotel (even the restaurant is not open throughout the day), it is loud and uncomfortable. No value for money whatsoever, my advice would be to go elsewhere, for this price, you can certainly find a better hotel.

Negatives:

- Our room (a superior) was not very comfortable at all - especially the bed

- Most rooms look towards an inner courtyard - the courtyard is nice and a great place to sit down. However, this also makes it difficult to rest in your room as you can hear virtually everything that is happening in the courtyard. Also, keeping your window open is not a great idea, because all the cigarette smoke from the courtyard is coming in.

- Staff are not very friendly (especially in the restaurant)

- Breakfast is terrible - everything was cold and/ or dry

- Expensive for what is being offered

Positives:

- The only thing that is good about this hotel is its location - indeed, quite conveniently located in the Old Town of Riga, close to various tourist spots
