A monument built to honour the soldiers who perished during the Latvian war. There is a rotation of the guards at 1pm everyday and guards are posted at this point during daytime. Its at the heart of the city centre and is very difficult to miss.

One of Latvian people cherished treasures.
Built in 1935, the 42-metre (138ft).
The statue was built by Latvian donations.
The statue stands tall as the Latvia people and so does the brave soldiers guarding the Monument. You might even catch a time (1 hour is the time when they change. They also patrol 1. after 30min) but they don't guard the Monument in extreme conditions (under -10°C {14°F} and above 25°C {77°F}

A gem in the city. The surrounding area and park are beautiful. The accordian player, dancers and street performers made my visit very special. Don't miss this area!

One of main landmarks of Riga. Depicts Latvian people who fought for independence from foreign powers. At the top of monument is Liberty who holds 3 stars that are three provinces of Latvia at that time. The other groups of sculptures show combination of Latvian history and mythology.

Excellent example of crowdfunding. This monument was built by money donated by citizens in 1930s. One of the most important places in Riga.

Awesome place. Must see. The memorial is in danger, lots of mold within the cracks. I Love the soldiers walk and presence, but they wear an M16; that weapon was not used in WW, even not invented when the memorial was built.
