The cathedral is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the country, it was built in 1211. It is considered the largest medieval church in the Baltic states.
A beautiful Lutheran cathedral is a must visit in the city. Entrance to the cathedral costs €3 per person and this offers entrance to the gardens too. Be mindful that they don't allow any drinks inside and no calls are allowed within the premises.
Loved exploring the cathedral ⭐️It combines features from Romanesque, early Gothic, Baroque and Art Nouveau periods of architecture.
This is one of Rigas landmarks. Cathedral belfry completes skyline viewing from other side of Daugava river. Stained glass windows greatly decorate interior. Inside there is small exposition of armory dating eighteen century.
Very gorgeous place with unique acoustic. Great place to go to organ concerts.
Russian orthodox really likes gold. Amazing historical location.
One of the best places I've ever visited, it has its own special atmosphere, very pleasant
Nice place with a little museum that outlines the history of the cathedral
Ticket 3€ only, you can go everywhere and make photos. Monumental, very beatiful, big exposition of different historical things. All translated to 4 languages, very comfort.
Lovely church inside and out. Only 3€ entry which includes the museum so good value.
A good visit. Lots of nice architecture and it's a big place. You can also read about the history of the church if you're interested. Doesn't cost much to enter so would strongly encourage a visit.
Worth a visit and if lucky you can also listen to great classical music.
Very beauty place. It's very beautiful to see by night and also when there's The "staro riga" the show of the light.
Entrance a litte bit expensive but inside really worth a visit and you need to buy your ticket to go to the top. This will allow you to discover Riga city from a different perspective!
During the soviet times this cathedral was well known for its acoustics. We were lucky as we were going by a concert was just going to start. We heard a organ concert with a Russian soprano. The all experience was a delight. The sound was clear, fresh, both soprano and organ, as well later a violin combine wonderfully. The 20€ were well worth.
Situated in the very heart of Old Riga the massive church is quite impressive from the outside yet plain and simple internally (as are the bulk of protestant churches). A visit is well worth (3€ adult) as cloisters have tons of historic findings exhibited, including the original weathervane rooster(symbol of Riga).
Definitely worth a visit!
