A lovely place - very Latvian - right on the seaside. The portions are very, very large ao consider taking one main for two people.

Very good authentic food, huge portions, good prices, cozy inerior (old fisherman house), nice atmosphere and nice place on the seaside dunes. At weekends quite crowded, make sure you reserve the table in advance.

Gotta believe the hype - this place is the real deal. And also it surprised us in a good way - from many of the reviews and pictures you would think this is just the usual standard Latvian pork chop place, large portions, potatoes, all that. But what we ordered - Kurland Pirate and Beef with apple were these interesting, delicious meat dishes served without sides (just salad) to distract from the taste. And for that the portions were just the right size of large. Soup, tea and milk shake were good too.
Now the place was real busy - we got lucky and got a spot right by the bar on the first try, but basically it was packed and they had like 10 reserved signs waiting for their moment. Several potential patrons kept coming back to check if a table had freed up (thankfully it's RIGHT next to the beach so you can have a nice walk while you wait). Basically take that Google busy indicator times two. As for the service - the staff were very courteous and pleasant.
Now a special tip: If it's your first time and you follow a map to get here you'll end up at some place that looks sort-of like an abandoned cafe - but just keep on going a little bit further and after that there's a gate to the right where you can see a road going all the way to the sea. Most of the food was delicious and portions are huuuge. Just fried potatoes were a let down- dry and tasted a bit old. Other than that amazing. More signage to find the place highly recommended!

Absolutely amazing. Located just a few meters shy of sandy Baltic beach, it's a very cozy "folk/country club" like restaurant. Personnel is friendly, helpful and kind. Food is yummy and plates are huge. And when you thought that life doesn't get better than this It does! They also bake fantastic, well decorated county style cakes. This place is an absolute must to visit.

Located in a really unremarkable neighbourhood, but don't let this fact to blind you. It's really awesome. Meals are really YUUGE for their price. For some it could be a con, but for me it's really a pro. The staff only speaks Latvian and English, but they do understand Russian. And if you feel like you need a little week, the pub located right on the beach!
The only thing I didn't like is that the bathroom is outside, which is not a problem in nice weather, but unfortunately we're in Latvia..response / report this review -

First experience was disappointing. Stuff not very helpful. Place might be booked out in weekends. Tables narrow. we were squeezed with 8 adults and 2 kids in one table. For customers attention - they have tables with standard chairs and with benches also. Some friends complained about quality of their meal.
