One of the large latvian theaters. Plays vary from brilliant to dreadful, so you have to research what you're going to.
Plays only in latvian, no subtitles that i know of, maybe on rare occasions only.

The worst professional theatre in town. Actors come to play in the time free from voicing commercials, acting in TV soaps and moderating corporate events.

The theater caters to masses so the shows are mainstream and often go for cheap laughs. However, you can find some good shows there, like "One flew over the cuckoo's nest".

A truly great theatre. I would argue that it is at least the second best in Riga (the first being Jaunais Rīgas Teātris). If you are ever in need of a mood boost or a play that will leave you in tears or utter disorientation, or a reevaluation of your life, this is the place to go. I haven't once been disappointed by a play at this theatre. The actors here are the best of the best, with the exception of few new ones. The building it's located in is another reason to go there. Plus, they display artwork that you can enjoy during the intermission, and it's entirely free of charge.
