Nice hotel room are small but well layout. Very clean and great water pressure. Close to a lot of places to eat, drink and shop. We would definitely stay here again.

The rooms are very small, the bed takes up nearly all the space. The staff is nice, but stretched very thin. Tiny reception area and the receptionist also helps out in the restaurant. The location is great, but sometimes very noisy. Ask for room on 4th floor

Fantastic location. Good in all ways except for poor wifi. View from the room.

Great location, helpful and friendly staff, comfortable bed, cosy room, and solid breakfast. Excellent value for money in an expensive city.

It is a tree star hotel what should be taken in consideration before rating. It is located in the center of city centre. Breakfast is kind of boring one, under the expectations (two kinds of ham, boiled egg and corn flakes + croassians), staff is professional and helpful, and noise isolation is very good with closed windows. I don't understand why there is no any TV program on English.

Great location. Hotel allowed early check-in that was nice. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Parking is either expensive in the city garage or a hassle to find on street. Market in the square on Saturday was good for fresh food and flowers. Lots of restaurants nearby.

The only problem I have with this hotel is its lack of sound proofing. The noise from the square and the bells made sleeping difficult.

I stayed here for two nights: 4th and 5th of July, 2017.

This small 17 room hotel is well located in one of the two main squares, close to shopping and 5-10 minutes walk from the airport bus stop.

I booked single use of a double room through Expedia at what I felt was an expensive €155 per night but noted that the rate posted in reception (see picture of notice) was €135. The receptionist commented that they frequently had similar issues with Expedia reservations but was very reluctant to correct my rate until I mentioned TripAdvisor!

The room (202) was quite basic to the point of being spartan; but had a good sized wardrobe with two shelves and adequate hanging space for a short stay (see pictures). It does have a nice view if the square and cathedral spires. The bathroom also was adequate but the shower head kept falling to the bottom of the slider bar and an attempted repair was unsuccessful. The towels were acceptable quality for a 3 star hotel but the bath towels barely fitted round my 38" waist.

The only electrical sockets I could find were awkwardly placed under the desk (see picture).

In my opinion the breakfast also is quite basic (see picture) with no toast available and coffee (cafe au lait) served lukewarm probably made with cold milk.

There are no safes in the rooms and the hotel safe is not located in the reception area which is not the most secure or convenient arrangement.

The rooms in this hotel are not air conditioned so it is essential to keep at least one window open in the summer. However this exposes you to the noise from the square and in particular the restaurants on either side of the hotel entrance, as well as the incessant church bells. On my first night I came in late and fell asleep but on my second night I was kept awake by a loud conversation from guests (or may have been off duty staff) in the Hotel's own restaurant well after the official licencing closing time of 1.00am. I resolved to go down and remonstrate with the staff but found the front door locked. According to the Fire Instructions posted in the room, this is the fire escape route. An alternative means of escape may have been via the restaurant to the open outside restaurant door; but the internal door also was locked.

The noisy guests did not leave until 1.45am but I did not get to sleep until around 3.30am worrying about the locked fire door.

I booked an alarm call for 6.30am but wisely took the precaution of setting the alarm on my phone. The hotel system rang me at 6.42am.

I would have rated this hotel 3 star as I do not feel it is good value for money. Anywhere else in Europe it would much cheaper. However I have only awarded 1 star to draw attention to the fire safety issue.

If you chose to stay here take earplugs and make sure the front door isn't locked after hours.

A stay at Hotel Vauban will offer you many opportunities from the convenience of your own room. For example, without leaving the comfort of your bed, you will be able to hear every last shred of noise coming up from the town square below (no need to even open the windows!). Enjoy the melodious clanks of the Saturday market being set up from 5AM, and as a Sunday treat, rise unintentionally at 7AM to three different sets of church bells! Also, if you leave your bags at the hotel after check out, there is the added convenience of having them left unattended in the hallway upon your return so that they can be picked up more easily.
