The place is simply amazing. Don't forget to climb the rock to the top. The view from the top is amazing. The stone crafted staircase analogues to the staircase you can see on great Mayan pyramids in Mexico. Carvings are greatly detailed, smooth and epic.

Nice place for hill climbers. About 1000 steps, some are very steep. To go to the top you should have a good stamina.

Nice place. It's an ancient kingdom of king buwanekabhahu. Can see a marvelous view after climbing on to the top of the rock. But its better to avoid climbing the rock who is a heart patient.

Hosts the site for the temple of the tooth shrine in the Yapahuwa era. The remains of the shrine are still intact. You can climb up to the rock using the sticky steps. But it's quite a workout if you're not into walking much.

The staircase is absolutely incredible for its architectural and sculptural details. It was an incredible fortress in the ancient times, and archeological research are still ongoing. The actual site is note huge but if you have time to go and a car to drive you there, it is worth it

Our historic place to protect as heritage. To reach to the peak, it is bit harder and walk around 1 Km. There are lot of sculptures. There is a under ground tunnel also. Access place can be seen, harder to access, my be dangerous.

Many people haven't visited this place.800 year old kingdom was found here.
Ruling was only for 20 years in 1270 to 1290 .through Mahawa city you could reach yapahuwa driving another 12 km.
