This is Weerawila Air Force camp. Both military and civil flights are operated. Some pictures in the photo gallery are not real images. That is Mattala International airport.

This is a military airport that accomodate civil domestic flights too as approved by the Air Force Headquarter.

This has been there for a long period as a domestic air port although it was started as a military base. As it was located in a central place there were plans to upgrade to an international air port. However the original plans were scrapped and due to unknown reasons of known politicians mattala air port was constructed.

The airport was one of the key sites identified for the development of an international airport and was to be renamed to Weerawila Airport. The project was later scrapped and finally moved to Mattala, inaugurating under the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport title in early 2013.
