Stayed during our 1 day quarantine (as required on arival), and absolutely love it. Friendly staff, clean and superb location.
Pick up from airport was well organised and with professional staff help makes jet lag 😴 easy and pleasant. Would definitely recommend and suggest to stay here. Our room was on a left side with sea view and also we was lucky enough to have jacuzzi in one of our balcony 😊

My room was Ocean view so the scenery outside my room was amazing. The food and the room services were really good. I had so much fun during my stay at this resort. P.S. I visited this place about 1 year ago from the date I am writing this review.

Disappointed. ClThe photos make the hotel seem much nicer than it really is. The beach was dark and murky and just not something you wanted to swim in. The climate was so hot and humid you had to stay inside. People hassling you for surf lessons at the hotel. For such a large hotel it felt crowded at the one restaurant. Children playing and screaming in it until late in the evening at the pool next to the restaurant.

The first room they gave us was old not like the photos online at all. My husband had to complain and we got a "newer" room like the photos show.

I was not feeling well so I ordered room service 5-6 times and it was like cafeteria food. Not terrible but nothing I want to eat ever again. Breakfast is a large spread but I felt like I was on a cruise. The dinner was pretty good but very overpriced and I felt like I was being forced to eat at a cafeteria.

This hotel is clean but it is not a getaway luxury hotel as it claims to be. I would say 1 night max is good here. And won't pay more than 100-120 euro a night max.

We actually checked out of the hotel early because there just wasn't anything to do there after 2 days. 1 day sightseeing in the area and that's it really.

Also I mention the heat because it was unbearable to go outside unless you were in the water. Forget about reading outside or walking around, people looked like they were about to faint after they came in from walking around the hotel. The humidity is so high it's like being in a sauna all day unless your acclimated to extreme heat and humidity.

The location is perfect. The design of the building makes you feel so close to the ocean. And the Celsius pool is a close second when you can't hit the beach.
The food and service is impeccable.
It was a wonderful stay.

One of the best experiences. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Food is amazing. They have a home made yoghurt which I have never tasted before. That felt like a piece of heaven in the mouth. The beach in-front of the hotel is also great. Would've been nice for an evening walk. Highly recommend hotel. You should pay a visit NOW!!

Stayed for a night with a group of around 25 persons. We booked around 9 rooms. The check in was smooth even though it was time consuming. However with the covid 19 regulations and documentation we cannot expect a quick check in. The front office staff was polite and explained about the facilities etc. the lobby was good and spacious. However no welcome drink was served.
Day 1 dinner was just fine with a fair variety.
Day 2 breakfast was average and didnt have much variety and taste.
Day 2 lunch was below average and lacked quality and taste .

The expectation from a taj property is different from what we expect from a local 4 or 5 star hotel. The food selection was purely based on local food dishes. The buffet lacked international food selections. The main reason why i choose taj was for the food quality. However the food quality was below average over all. I feel the reason could be the non presence of foreign guests. ( but i feel that they have compromised on their name.

Rooms were huge and spacious. However the hotel requires refurbishment. The style looks contemporary and traditional. The wash rooms didnt have exhaust fans which is a must to flush out the bad odour. The hand sink was built too low. One other matter was that there was no sufficient toiletries ( 1 soap and a shower gel for 3 persons in a room) . No tooth brush ( we had to ask for it) . Where as 5 star hotels have shampoo, shower gel, shampoo, lotion, tooth paste and tooth brush in ample. Disposable slippers were not available.

I feel the hotel has compromised on services just to save cost during this covid season. The hotel treats foreigners and locals in different ways. I Have stayed at a taj property in langkawi , malaysia . But disappointing to mention that the sri lankan Taj property is way below par.

Nice, clean and beautiful resort. Everyday we were enjoying a great breakfast buffet with a great variety of different food.
Pricing for dinner and other services are high (western Europe range), but there are very good restaurants located in Bentota in walking distance.
We enjoyed our stay there very much.

Good check in experience, nice beach, big rooms , excellent breakfast and that’s it!
The hotel needs a lot of refurbishment to get back to 5 star rating! For now it’s not.. the bed isn’t comfortable and the room wasn’t that clean and the toilet was smelling bad and was molded and rusty in some areas!!

And what was worse for me, is finding small lizards in the room, and they were ok with it; they said “ it’s ok! Not harmful..”! I raised it to the duty manager and he did nothing!

The staff is asking for tips for everything! And at the end of the stay they don’t even bother to ask if you enjoyed the stay or not!!!

The whole experience is not what you expect from 5 star hotel, and doesn’t worth the value you are paying.. so a star for the beach and a star for the breakfast!

One of the beautiful resort in the southern area of Sri Lanka. I love this hotel. This is one of the best place in Bentota. The pools are nice. It's bang next to the sea which is crystal clear and clean. The buffet at the hotel is quite good. The rooms are either modern style or old fashion which is cool. The staff is warm and courtesy can be seen in them. Extremely helpful staff. All most great place for a holiday.

The rooms are very spacious and luxurious, would strongly recommend the ones with beach view. They have a number of amenities including a lovely swimming pool, great Spa, tennis courts, pool tables and have access to beach..

Staff at the restaurant is very cooperative, the buffet dinner is excellent.

I love this hotel. From when you enter and the warm and welcoming greeting to the amazing rooms. The rooms are either modern style or old fashion which is cool. The pools are nice. The beach is also nice. The food is pretty good too. Some rooms are located next to the restaurant and one downside of that is sometimes it may be loud when people talk as they head for breakfast or dinner. Or leave. Overall it’s pretty nice.

Very nice large hotel with all the typical things you’d expect from a large hotel. Compared with Taj Colombo this was a step down but still very good.
Several restaurants but very limited vegan options especially for breakfast where they seemed to only have watermelon, pineapple and papaya for fruit. All the local food they made was very delicious and a great range.
Decent sized pool and good grass area for kids to play plus clean beach.
Lots of activities available, close to town, and warm employees - all of them!

An excellent resort in the southern area of Sri Lanka. This is probably the best place in Bentota. It's bang next to the sea which is cristal clear and clean. The buffet at the hotel is quite good however it has shrunk in the last few years. The staff is warm and courtesy can be seen in them. Overall a great experience and place for a holiday.

The most perfect hotel (in my opinion, of course) for a romantic getaway. The famous Taj Hospitality, coupled with a lovely location (pristine beaches of Bentota), restaurants / bars serving great food make it such a favored destination.

Very good place to stay. Good, friendly and professional service at everywhere from the reception downwards.
Tasty foods. Especially appreciate authentic Indian food made by the Indian Chef.
Clean and smòoth sandy beach which encourages evening and morning walking.
Suite room I stayed had a better sea view and the sound of the sea.

One of the best hotel stays I have had. A few meters from the room to the beach (two of them), the buffet restaurant the palms is the best restaurant we found all around bentota (and we tried all the top ones) with great chefs and excellent service (also very friendly staff, both chefs and Waiters). Rooms are good with nice bathrooms, good cleaning service and comfortable beds. Overall an excellent stay, nothing to complain about.
