Warning: if you like 'action' and want to be close to the beach and touristy restaurants, this is not the place for you.
My husband and I stayed 2 nights and we were the only guests there. We were throughly charmed by the place. Think village-resort style. There's a relaxed vibe about the place. It's a charming old bungalow and we felt like we'd gone back in time.
Padma, the hostess, has a beautiful smile and is a very good cook. Do have her Sinhalese breakfast. You will not regret it and will be happily stuffed to the core. No need for lunch afterwards!
To get there: it was 20rs per person by bus from Aluthgama bus station to Yalagama. Then 100 rs by tuk tuk in. VHB is 2km from the main road so if you fancy a walk and it's not too hot, go for it. The heat was hellish so we gladly got the tuk tuk in, and pretty much enjoyed staying in the bungalow the whole time.
WiFi: best we have had in Sri Lanka. Fast and reliable.
Aircon: Padma had the aircon going before arrival time, and we were half an hour early! Aircon looks new and worked great.response / report this review -

A good place for a nice vacation in down south, Sri Lanka. Great staff and service lovely swimming pool. Good rooms and you could enjoy a peaceful holiday.. it has 4 double rooms and 1 big family room. 3 out of the 4 double rooms are very good. So check with them before booking if they have made nessesay renovations in room # 4. If so it too will be good. Overall, it was a lovely stay in an ancesterol home turned small hotel. Hope you too would enjoy :)
