St. Anthony's church is located in kachchateevu, furthest Island of Sri Lanka. The church here is vacant throughout the year except during the annual St. Antony's pilgrimage held every year around February/March. This festival is very special as pilgrims from Sri Lanka and India brave the rough seas to make the long journey to the island. The pilgrimage lasts for two days.

This Island belongs to India but our useless politicians didn't cared about this so now Sri Lanka rules it. India have proper evidence about this island which was owned by the Jamins who ruled Ramnad areas and Sri Lanka doesn't have. Useless Indian politicians doesn't care about this so Sri Lanka took over. Tamil Vaalga.

St. Anthony's Catholic Shrine was dedicated in 1905, called in Tamil as Anthoniyar Koil (புனித அந்தோனியார் கோயில்), has over 100 year old traditions, and was built by an Indian Catholic-seenikuppa padaiyatchi, Ramnad Catholic diocese, on this uninhabited island. This church is dedicated to Anthony of Padua, the patron saint of fishermen. No one was required to possess Indian passport or Sri Lankan visa for visiting Kachchatheevu.
Jaffna Bishop Justin Gnanapragasam holds the administration responsibilities of this church.

Sri Lanka Kachchathiv is an Island amazing place which you can enjoy real bio diversity. Coral beach around the Island and different varieties of coral types and various types of Cacti. This Island you can visit only on Church feast days only. Difficult journey 5-7 hours sailing time in standard boat. Rough sea better to carry Vomiting tablets. Water, instant food, etc. Sri Lanka Navy is providing all necessary services Free food, water, medical facilities, Sanitary facilities, Security. Sri Lanka Navy Staff very kind always help and take care of everybody who visits to Kachchathiev Island.
