I went diving at Great Basses Lighthouse with the Sri Lanka Coast Guard end of March. It was two very good dives, friendly and professional crew & diveguide, good view, some swell, not too deep, a lot of formations, fish and the wreck. You have to be lucky, apparently you can only dive there March/April (before the monsoon starts), and you have to arrange with the Coast Guard (and they may be busy with other duties). But if you get the chance you should do it! You have to contact them by phone and ask about possible dates. Also note: this is not a commercial diving center, so they only have a limited number of equipment (and sizes) available. Thanks again for the excellent trip!

Professional diving with the coast guard. I went in December 2016, warm water and great visibility. Best time to dive is between December and March, so I heard, when the heavy rain hits the east and north coast of Sri Lanka. I had some cloudy days, but it was always pleasant temperature.
