Absolutely love the location. 180 degree view of the sea. It's breathtaking. The The small pathway to the beach is filled with hermit crabs. The beach has many natural rock pools filled with bio diversity. Lovely for early morning walks with kids. Had a few issues in the room that was sorted out. Lovely breakfast and lunch spreads. Dinner, soups and desserts could definitely improve.

Really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Rooms and the service is brilliant. Thought the hotel should have a recreational room and the buffet needs improvement. Overall it was a great holiday.

We stayed at Sooriya Resort and Spa from 30/03/2018-1/04/2018. It was a very pleasant experience. The food was very good with a good spread and a balance between Western and Eastern cuisine. The management and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The Chef Dinesh was very friendly and we thank him for his hospitality. Sampath the Manager was also helpful and friendly.
The rooms are clean with excellent views of the ocean to wake up to. The hotel is child and family friendly and the children were kept entertained by the pool and other facilities.response / report this review -

We stayed three nights here and would definitely go back! The property is well maintained and is located on a beautiful secluded area. If you want to get away from everything and just relax, this is the place to go.
The staff is really nice, always smiling and does everything to make your stay as good as possible, a big plus in my opinion.
The food is great. Ate most off of the ala cart menu and it was tasty!
Regarding the sleep situation, our room had the most comfortable beds on our three week trip in Sri Lanka. No doubt about it.
The pool was super clean and nice to swim around.
A couple of things to note is that the resort is a a bit far away from the town and beach area (the ocean is right there, just not safe/fun to swim in). So if that's what you're after then you might want to look into alternatives. We talked to a family with kids and they felt it was "hard" to entertain their kids at the resort.
To sum up: Great staff, great food, calm and secluded, comfy rooms, nice pool. If you can live with that for a couple of days, then don't hesitate.response / report this review -

A really good hotel set in wonderful surroundings, with a real feeling of being in nature. You can see eagles every day and the stars are amazing!
The rooms are clean & comfy and the pool & grounds are well taken care of by excellent staff.
The Sri Lankan food is great, but the other food a little lacking compared to everything else, but there are plenty of nice restaurants nearby for dinner etc.response / report this review -

Excellent resort. Outstanding customer service. The hotel manager Chanaka was extremely flexible and helpful. New facilities. This hotel is very undervalued. Stay there and you won't regret it.

Extraordinary location in a remote but brand new 5 stars hotel with friendly staff.
What we liked:
The Sooriya hotel is brand new (6 month old as of Dec 2017) and the facilities are just amazing. We were lucky to get the panoramic view room with 180° view on the sea and rocky shore. Best awakening ever!
The staff is really friendly and will make sure that you enjoy your stay.
The location is great. Don't expect to see the civilization (it's pretty remote), but that really a positive aspect.
We were so happy that we extended our two nights stay.
The room was spacious, restaurant buffet excellent and with a large swimming pool.
You can walk to Rekawa or Tangalle beach. But don't expect restaurants, bars and lots of activity like in Mirissa. You will most likely be among the 4-5 people along the 10km beach.
The staff arranged a tour to Bundala national park for us.
What we didn't like:
Coffee. You've got a great Italian machine, but a proper barista is needed!

Giving this place 4 stars because it was a pleasant stay. The rooms were clean. Quiet place, with few guests. Staff is very friendly and their service is great. Very baby-friendly. The kitchen staff helped with my 7 months old baby's food. They even cooked a rice specially for the baby. Pool is nice. Gym is in brand new state. Due to the low number of guests we only had a set menu. Didn't have a great variety, but the food was good - except for the pizza we had. Soup is really good. The last 1.5 kms on the route to hotel is a little bumpy. The beach is nice but a little rough. So not sure about having a swim/bath in Sea. I only saw square pin plug points in the room. Rooms have TV, WiFi, mini bar, AC, and the scenic view of the Sea.
I personally don't agree with the rates they have, considering they didn't have a buffet. But since the service is really good, I think I had a great stay.response / report this review -

A beautiful hotel I ever went to as I am travel a lot. My family and I enjoyed every bit of the holiday.food was excellent, very clean even the rooms. Workers were friendly always with a smile and we won't for get our General manager he was very helpful thank you very much for your hospitality. I will always recommend all my friends to come to this hotel if they need a relaxing good food holiday. Thank you very much

The building has been well placed to get the maximum of the surrounding vistas thus providing 180 view.. of the Indian ocean. By looking at the surroundings. hardly any interventions done to the exsisting topography or flora at site there by preserving the natural vegetation.
