Bird park is really good and able to see lot of varieties of birds. Bird cage arrangements and waking path is really easy to watch birds freely. If you go early morning as you can it can feel better. But road conditions are not good which are from main road to bird park.

It's a Bird paradise..!! There is a lot of lovely and rare birds from around the world more than 200 types. Around 6 to 7 Kilometers from the main road. Only way in via a dirt local road which is still constructing.
This should be on your list if you are traveling to Hambantota. Parking is available for free. Usually a crowded place.
Tickets are available available in the entrance 250LKR for Locals and 1000LKR for foreigners.
Inside of park there is a Cafeteria for fast foods and drinks with resting area. Sweet wind will reduce your tired automatically.

4x4 road from hambanthota to birds sanctuary around 7km , foreign adults ticket charges 1000RS & a local guide enters free , and local ticket chargers 250RS, really enjoyed birds sanctuary really worth & advisable for kids as you can see different birds with beautiful views ,

Only exotic birds are exhibited. Imported birds from Europe and asia. Park is large, birds are in fairly large cages with trees and water. Same species are exhibited at several locations. Not worth traveling the 7km bad condition road way from the main road.

The park needs some maintenance to upgrade it. The cages looked bit unclean. But the birds were a bit active and looked well taken care of. There is a wide variety of parrots, pea cocks, ducks and flamingos in the park. There isn't much information available about the birds but rather just names. To arrive to the park it's needed to travel about 8km from the main road.

Great collection of birds, park is arranged and organized very well. Good place for the whole family to be. The collection of peacocks was amazing.

Very nice place & a good experience. Its good to see animals live in peace and given fair room to survive. Some parts of the park is still under construction such as Maco birds area and entertain area.
We went their with our friends and their kids. Its good to see kids enjoyed the most and got plenty of photographs while feeding them. There is a gift shop, resturant and if you intrest to buy love birds this is the ideal place for that.highly recomend to visit this place if you are travelling to Hambantota .

The largest bird park and research center in Sri lanka. Specially they keep all kinds of Parrots including several kinds of Macaws , Various varieties of peacocks, Peasants , Ostriches ,Emus, Kasuaries,Swans, and several kinds of Ducks including the Mandarin Ducks..Also the Crown Crain and Scarlet ibis..The management of this place is doing great work..The cages are clean and birds were treated well.

They also working to expand the project and to develop the place as a breading center.

It's a great place to visiting for the people who enjoys bird watching and do researches about birds. We can watch birds with a huge range, such as from local ones to so many foregin birds from other regions such as Asian, European, African and etc.
Specailly I must know you that there is a stole to sell booklets, photographs of those birds. Not only that but also they are providing the chance to buy "Feathers" of those species for fair prices.
But if you want walk through the whole area & watch allkind of birds, you have to spend 5 or 6 hours in this place. The walking path is beautifully and comfortably designed for the visitors. So it's not difficult to walk along the track.

Great place to visit with many kind of birds you cannot see day to day life or even at zoo. Road is still on developing so bit hard to access. Parking too limited for a crowded day. But a must Visit place with your children.
