Sinharaja Forest Reserve is a national park and a biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. It is of international significance and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO.According to International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Sinharaja is the country's last viable area of primary tropical rainforest. More than 60% of the trees are endemic and many of them are considered rare.

Really not happy about what's happening for the road. We are visiting there to visit jungle and the roads are built from cement so the travellers could walk. This does not make sense. I really love the bio diversity in sinharaja. But with what is happening lot of people have lost the interest.

This place is very good for trekking. I went here during March and the climate seemed sunny so I enjoyed the journey very much. Then and there you will find leeches so its better to protect yourself. These days this particular entrance function without any formal ways because we have to get down and park our vehicles before 3km from the entrance and then there will be guides who will take us in a threewheeler and they will guide us through the whole journey. Actually four of us went and the total charge for the threewheeler, ticket and the guide was Rs.5000. Its high time for the forest department officials to look in to this matter. Inside the forest you will find waterfalls and hills. I was able to spot small snakes, monkeys and fishes. This place is very good for hike.

A greatest rainforest in Sri Lanka. It must be visit there before your life ending.
