AAT Business School, the higher education arm of AAT Sri Lanka and the Sabaragamuwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a MOU on 26th July 2016 initiating a partnership to deliver AAT Business School courses in the Ratnapura District for the benefit of AAT members, Passed Finalists and those in the SME sector in the District. The MOU was signed by Mr. J.M.U.B Jayasekara - President, AAT Sri Lanka and Mr. C.J Gunaseela, Director/Executive Advisor - Business School, Sabaragamuwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Our Chamber was inaugurated in 1997 with the financial sponsorship of the Royal Netherlands Embassy and with the technological co-operation of the Integrated Rural Development Project (IRDP), Ratnapura. The Chamber commenced with an original Membership of 35 entrepreneurs has to its credit 19 years of service up to now.
The Chamber’s services are made available to its entire membership scattered throughout the Ratnapura District and to the small and medium term entrepreneurs who require Management, Technological and Market Development services to develop their enterprises. As a measure of widening the services of the Chamber and to execute its services efficiently our ability to establish its first regional branch at Embilipitiya is a great victory achieved by the Chamber at the Regional Chambers of Commerce Competition Conducted by The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) presented the Chamber the award for the best Corporate Social Responsibilities Project as a tribute to the 15 years of services rendered by the Chamber. In 2012 the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) conducted its 5th the Competition to select the best Chambers of Commerce out of the large scale Chambers of Commerce, Our Chamber bringing glory to Sri Lanka.
