The process is very poor. But I guess there is no other option as well. People just stand at the front of the gate waiting for instructions. If you don't ask you might be there for a while. So please talk to someone that is near the gate.

80s era typical SL office.. even a rural village have better office. lazy people . Coz CENTRAL RECORD ROOM IS A PLACE AVAILABILITY OF WHATEVER THE CERTIFICATES FROM ANY CORNER OF THE COUNTRY BUT THEY DONT ISSUE CERTIFICATE FROM COLOMBO3 WHO WAS BORN EVEN 3/2 YEARS BACK OR A CERTIFICATE FROM A RURAL AREA.
AS I LEARNED FROM HIGHER RANK SLAS OFFICERS AND DS OFFICERS ,PRESENTLY U SHOULD BE ABLE TO OBTAIN BC/DC/MC FROM ANY DS OFFICE IRRELEVANT OF YOUR ORIGINAL PLACE BECAUSE THEY ARE ON COMMON DATA BASE. BUT SO CALLED CENTRAL RECORD ROOM IN AN OLD BUILDING WITH VERY INCONVENIENT WAITING AREA.
Bdw LUNCH TIME 12.45-1.30 PM. OFFICE IS LOCKED. IF U GO AFTER 2 PM THE CERTIFICATE WOULD BE SENT ONLY BY POST U HAD TO PAY POSTAL CHARGES.
pls try to give a better service for the tax payer. we r living in a golden ages of technology and only a typewriter missing in that office,, 😉response / report this review -

Here you can get birth certificate, marriage certificate and all kinds of certificates. (The birth outside srilanka registered with srilanka high commission is called consular birth certificate). Consular birth certificate also you can get here. Applied before 2 pm on weekdays, you can get the certified copy of the certificates on the same day or else they will send you to your address by register post within 7 working days

Traditional government office but friendly staff. If you need to get a certified copy of your birth certificate which is destroyed you have to come this place.
