Vast area to explore. A lot of props and sites can be seen. There's even an entire area created to look like the Mumbai city in tge 80's 90's (for the movie Bombay velvet). Most of the times you can even catch one or two movie/teledrama shootings taking place as well. There are lots of great settings for photo shoots as well. A new experience for the Locals. Need to improve facilities though.
They could even open up a souvenir shop to raise income as well.

Visited Hambanthota Ranminitenna Village, there are plenty of Cinema sets available, specially they r show the shadow of Indian Mumbai city. If you want to cheat someone that ur in Mumbai please ride to Hambantota

You could see a film locations used for some Sri Lankan and foreign films here. There were some guides to give explanations about the sections. But, we had to walk around the cinema village, which made us fed up in that very hot climate. Better if they had a shuttle service inside. Ticket price was reasonable. There were food courts built but was not functioning. Wash room facilities were very good. There was an ample parking area.

Ranminithenna is a Tele, cinema , wedding preshoot and tele commercial shooting location with facilities for accomadation for the actors and crew.

It consists of an in door studio with back settings and open purpose build cinema back settings

Open back settings re Colonial Colombo/ Galle and Kandy town in Sri Lanka and Colonial Bombay town ( constructed for the film Bombay Velvet ( 2015). there are typical Sri Lankan / Indian village setting and tropical bush land and lake setting to choose from for your tele , cinema or wedding pre- shoot.

Visitors are allowed for sight seeing ( for a small fee) and take photos in all these settings except inside the studio.

Nice locations for a photographer. But the maintenance is too bad most of the structures have been destroyed and some are very dangerous to even step on. They are charging 5000 LKR for a photoshoot and they have changing rooms too. Main cafeteria is no longer functioning inside the village.

Temporary building structures are bit old now than i visited this place couple of years ago. But still it's great to watch. There was a canteen early. This time its closed
