This is one of the oldest railway stations in Sri Lanka. It is said to be one of the railway stations with longest platform in Sri Lanka.
The recent renovations have made this station a nice place.
The ticketing counter is located near to the road and you have to go to other side using a overhead bridge to access the platforms.
There is a public toilet and a canteen. This station needs more modifications to accommodate wheelchair accessibility.
Well I came here on an early morning and I loved the environment so much. There are two platforms and this place is next to Polgahawela and before kadigamuwa if you are coming from Colombo.
If you are traveling to hills in Srilanka by train you will pass this railway station. After passing the Rambukkana station train will start to climb mountains.
Very beautiful crowded palace in rambukkana very clean & clam place
This place is situated in rambbukkana Town and this place is facilities with all necessary things of a railway station. And also near surroundings is very actractive to seen.
it is a Beautiful railway station. everyday trains run to badulla, kandy, mathale, and colombo
This is a beautiful railway station situated at Rambukkana town, from Colombo fort station to Rambukkana station there are two railway tracks available and from Rambukkana Station there is only one railway track towards Badulla line, at this station most of long trains pushed with an another train engine as the Kadugannawa hill starts here.
Rambukkana Railway Station has the longest platform in Sri Lanka. And it is one of main railway station in sri lanka too. Most of people know this place and travel, because of Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and Pinnawala Zoo.
Ticketing counter building redesigned with attractive architecture. Come and enjoy this awesome place.
This is one important station in the Kandy Badulla -Colombo line. Can go to Hatharaliyadda from this station without going to Kandy. And also the station is very nice!!
Small town on way to Kandy. If you are going to Pinnawala/ Elephant orphanage than you should stop at this station. Elephant orphanage is near by. Small station, beautiful and clean. Really difficult to get a proper veg food.
Nice train station. Go to town and take a bus to Pinnawala. Tuctuc drivers are waiting here for any tourist and they charge you a lot. Don't let fool yourself.
this is one of the industrial archaeological place in Sri lanka. it was built in 1867.
One of the main Railway Stations in Sri Lanka. This is where the dual railway section of the up country line ends and the single line begins all the way upto Kandy, Matale and Badulla. Also the light signal control section which is monitored by the Colombo Fort railway traffic control unit ends here and the old smaphore signalling system and the Tyer's train tablet system start from here.
Almost all the trains that runs in the up country line stops here except the Intercity express trains.
There is a small cafeteria here for the passengers which is open during the day time and the evening. The ticket counters are located separately to the station. The restroom facilities are very minimal and the hygiene of the toilets are questionable.
Beautiful place, dual rail way is ends from here so that when you heading to kandy, train may stop all the stations after this. if need to visit pinnawala elephant orphanage, it will easy to come here by train and get Kagalle bus, you can reach there after travelling about 4km, from train station to bus stand not much far.
We took a trip to Bandarawela. It was surprisingly cheap and really enjoying. If you want to see real Srilankan nature you should take that train. By the way, it took us about 7 hours to get there. You should take some food with you
