I'll start by saying that we had a fantastic experience, though I know others have not. We were fortunate in that we found a pygmy blue whale early on. We were able to watch several dives before heading back. On the way back, we were able to see a pod of dolphins hunting, which was fantastic. The food they served was very tasty, and there was plenty of bottled water for everyone. The staff were kind and polite.
I'm not sure how happy I would've been had we had to spend 8hrs or more on the trip, so I'm glad we were only out for about 5.

Great service and ethics, something that most other whale tour operators seem to be missing. It was such an incredible experience to see the blue whales. The team put in 200% to make this an amazing trip, including a great breakfast on board. Having witnessed how other boats were operating (hunting the whales would be more accurate than watching), I am so happy I choose Raja & the Whales.

Excellent! The team was very friendly and professional, they were explaining even person by person till the last minute. Very professional approach to the whales and they made sure we all saw the whales enough times. They were offering food during the whole trip, first coffee, then fruits, then fresh omelette and finally sweets. Very cool guys. Congrats!

Fantastic tour with great breakfast. We saw all animals we wanted and left the boat very happy.
Only two stars because we almost crashed into another boat and missed it by just one meter with the crew in panic without giving clear orders during the incident. Should not happen.

Fantastic experience with passionate and knowledgeable team. Everything from the booking process to the farewell at the end of the trip was taken care of with great dedication.

I booked online and got my confirmation in less than 12 hours, they picked me up in the hotel on time and brought me to the ticket office by 6:30. 5 minutes later we were already on board where coffees and teas were provided. Fruit platter with 8 types of fruits followed by omelettes made 1:30 hour the trip to the whales area fly.

We passed all other boats and headed to a different direction. All 3 hours of our trip we were by ourselves and saw 6-7 whales, 2 of which passed by our boat. We also saw a pod of dolphins and mating turtles.

The team is extremely attentive, friendly and helpful. They made sure everybody could see the animals and explained what we were looking at. They take great pictures themselves and send them the same day to
your email, so you can just relax and enjoy the day.

On our way back we got cookies, juice and even cool towels to refresh ourselves. At the end of the trip they collected all the plastic rubbish from us to recycle it.

Raja & the Whales is an exceptional company, I couldn't recommend it enough.

Spectacular trip delivered by fantastic, knowledgeable staff. Their ethical practice and respect for the creatures and habitat was a requirement of ours that they truly met. Enjoyed 6+ encounters with blue whales and happened across a whale shark on the return journey.

Added bonus is the constant refreshments you are plied with!

Really informative whale watching tour. I felt that they really cared about the nature and they didn't want to distress the animals by going too near just for good pictures. Breakfast and snack on the boat were included in the price.

Good experience end to end with this company. They arranged free pickup from our hostel at 6am, and explained the protocol of while watching well. Food and drinks are served throughout journey. Altogether we saw 4 blue whales and 1 whale shark. 6500rupees per adult.

Prob what can be improved is the registration process explanation (and maybe obtain particulars through email instead to reduce que) and the purchasing of the blue whale soft toy for charity (posters showed 150rupees but was charged 250) which was very confusing.

Personal tip would be to sit on upper deck, since it has more cover than the bottom deck (if you are worried about sunburn!).

Overall, good experience and would be recommended to others. enjoy!

Extremely professional. Exactly what you want from a whale watching tour. They treat the animals with respect and really seemed to know their stuff.

The picked us up from the hotel. The breakfast was brill. Fortunately we didn't get sick but the 1 or 2 people that did we're helped out. We saw approximately 200 spinner nose dolphins, which seemed less energetic than usual but then we saw a pod of 12 orca which we were informed was why. The biggest pod some of the guides had ever seen. Then 5 blue whale.

Great company which really tries to make your whale watching trip worth while. They take good care of people who get sick during the trip. Also, this company will not disturb the whales but keep their distance. Great experience for me!

Had an amazing trip with the Raja&the Whales team. They looked after all the guests from the start to finish. On boarding the boat we were offered tea/coffee and ginger biscuits. A little later we were provided with an amazing fruit platter, and later still an omelette or fried eggs and toast. Later still cake, and then finally some watermelon. So, we were well fed throughout!
More importantly, we got to see 10 blue whales and loads of spinner dolphins. It was a truly incredible experience. All of the crew were so friendly and enthusiastic. It was a really special and enjoyable day.
Take travel sickness pills beforehand; the sea is very rough!

I read a lot of reviews before choosing Raja, and I was surely not disappointed. They educated us pretty well about the whales we could see, and practised safe whale watching, letting the animals enjoy their dives, and still we got to see a lot of whales in an outing. Great experience!

If you are in Mirissa and want to see the blue whales that live in the deep trenches south of the island, Raja's company is a really good choice. They are both eco friendly and human friendly.

On our trip today we left quite early and got to see a whale surface multiple times before any other boats came close.
During the surfacing the engine was turned down idle allowing us to glide slowly next to the whale.

We were offered sea sickness tablets upon paying for the tickets, and before the boat left shore we were served tea and ginger biscuits. After a while we were served a platter of fresh fruit, and later again we had a choice between fried eggs or omelette.

All in all a lovely experience aided by a very friendly crew.
Would definitely recommend this company to anyone.

These guys do their best to treat the whales respectfully. They pick a spot far away from all the other Whale watching boats so that Whale doesn't get trapped or disturbed. They make it clear from the beginning that there cannot be a 100 % garuantee to find a whale and promise either half your money back or you can go on another free trip the next days. After putting down a small deposit you get picked up in the morning right in front of your accommodation. Breakfast and snacks on the boat were way above our expectations. First they served a very rich fruit plate followed by some eggs later on. At the end there was some cake and juice. In a country where environmental awareness is still underdeveloped, these people try to educate on the importance of proper plastic recycling and use their free time on the boat to pick plastic items from the ocean. Overall we are very thankful for the experience and happy to have picked his organization.

If you wanna go whale watching, do it with Raja. We had a great time, and most important, Raja and his crew won't chase the whales or annoy them. They simply have enough experience to know where you can find whales without using echolots and other tools that disturb the animals in the sea. We saw whales and enjoyed a huge swarm of dolhpins that had fun playing with the boat. The crew is very kind and caring, they explain a lot. Make sure to reserve your ticket a few days before you wanna go there.
