great. fantastic food
Food are very delicious. Friendly service & nice atmosphere. Worth to visit.
Located next to paddy field, it is quite and peaceful. For Rs.850 per person, expect a buffet of traditional Sri Lankan homemade meal (curry & vegetarian) on a lotus leaf.
Food was exceptionally good. They had like 12 items for lunch. All the food items, curries were very tasty.
Probably the best Sri Lankan Authentic food spot!
Great food! Sri Lankan authenticity at its best!
Nice curry and food
Very friendly family invite you into the kitchen to show process of stone rolling spices and coconut shavings. Wood fire cooked roti. Fruit juices. Delicious and huge curry buffet! Followed by fruit and curd and honey for dessert. Possibly best meal in Sri Lanka.
Be sure to call ahead a few hours.
Google maps has a wrong road. Make sure you see the sign, and the Buddha statue is on your right if you're walking in.
2500 rupees for two people (including water and two juices).
Very good dishes in a sympa place! Traditional food (un) fortunately not too spicy!🌶🌶🌶
Had best Sri Lankan food
This is a real hidden gem in the middle of the rice fields of Polonnaruwa. We went there for dinner (March 2017) without reservation. The restaurant is quite hard to find (don't trust Google Maps but look for a sign on the Main Street) and at 8pm we actually were the only guests. However, the owners and the staff welcomed us warmly, seated us in a traditional thatched hut, and served up an impressive and rich variety of amazingly tasteful vegetarian curries (with rice, papadam and roti), amongst them jackfruit, mango, coconut etc. We really enjoyed the food and would have liked to eat much more but it would have been enough for a whole family ;-). And after the main courses, the waiters delighted us with fresh fruits and coconut sweets - heaven! We paid 2,100 rupees for a great dinner and fresh juices which we perceived as a perfectly reasonable price. Highly recommended!
Went for lunch and was full of tourists, there by the buss loads. That wouldn't be so bad if the price and quality was what some others have reviewed. They grossly overcharged us: Rs. 2700 for 2 people. The curries were average, too salty and not as flavourful as what we had in other places. There are far better good food places with fair price and authentic setting in the area. Cannot recommend it. Try some place else and save yourself an expensive disappointment.
Best food we tasted whilst in Sri Lanka. A plethora of curries (particularly vegetarian), cooked traditionally in a wood fired ovens/stoves. Clean, friendly and a nice setting. Well worth a trip.
Natural setting with a lovely view over the fields. Truly genuine welcoming family who serve dish upon dish of great curries, some meat but most veggie, followed by buffalo milk, honey and fruit. All cooked over coals and brought out as a buffet so you can pile high your lotus leaf plate. Highly recommended. One adult meal (2 courses), plus a soft drink, about £5.
