  Excrllent pre historic evidence found here. The buddhist litreture have been wrote on puskola paper. Nice environment to study buddhist literature. More like a buddhist university of riligion. If you are interested in studying ot reserching buddhist litrature or it's philosophy , probably this is the best place.

  One of the best to visit historical place in Ratnapura. And a really nice historical Buddhist Cave temples and a monastery in Sri Lanka. It was built by ancient King Walagamba. It was known to be one of the 3 Pothgul Viharas (Temples with books/Library) built by King Walagamba.

  Poth gula means the cave of books .This was a buddhist library in Anuradhapura era. A lot of puskola books were written at this place. King Walagamba has lived here and he developed this temple after regaining the Kingdom. Portugese have destroyed that temple . What we can see now is the temple which was built in the Kandian era.

  It's an old hiding place of king Walagamba. But currently it is a Buddhists temple. There is a cave inside the temple which was said nobody has returned who entered in to it.
