The first library complex was the public library infront of clock tower. It's still in there, but it's not a quite place. Coz it's placed on the middle of the city. You can register it and take away books. But you can't learn in there. Space is too low and noise is too much. So the second public library bring to the new town. Wehere the all administration complex placed on. New public library complex is well planned architecture design. Very quite, beautiful environment, space was improved. You can join to library just filling small form. It just 200LKR.(can be change) Then you have to pay just 50LKR for a year.
New library's basement flor has the entrance and wash rooms. And also has place to eat. Second floor is for children who learning. There was computers for studies in learning area. Right side it has a learning center for small children. Left side has computer lab and office. Infront of stairs you can visit to the balkany.
Third floor has meeting room and the book racks. They only allowed one paper and pen to enter there. There has more categorized books. Commerce, Art, Science, Maths, Languages,Historic, Nature and many more categories. You can find Sinhalese, English,Tamil, Korean, Japanese books in there. (Korean and Japanese books are just for language learners that written by Sinhalese)
Compound has many local fruit trees. You can taste them. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
It also has Ratnapura's best auditorium. It's airconditioned and can sit about 650 persons.
