Over 75 years back this junction had a small structure with a bowl of water for drinking purposes . The bowl is called "pinthaliya". those days most people travel by foot and when they are thirsty they stop at the pinthalilya and drink water . people in those days had set it up for the benefit of the public. That is how this junction came to be known as pinthaliya junction though there does not exists pinthaliya now with the passage of time.
