Poor standard. We were willing to pay the high price for the room so that we could relax in the resort after a long time travelling.
The staff told us that we could use to phone to order any type of food. Great service. When we wanted to order food later, they told us: 'There's no lunch, only dinner, you can go have lunch somewhere else'. We picked the resort cause they promoted good food and Nilaveli doesn't have much nice restaurants around. When we came back after lunch they said there was dinner at 6.30. When we wanted to order food at that time, they told us there is no food. Then we asked for a fruit platter. Not possible. Then a fruitshake? Not possible. Eventually they told us that the rest of our stay (4 days) there would be no food at all, except breakfast. We decided to stay and take a tuk tuk everytime we were hungry.
The next morning we get breakfast, which costed 1600 rupees for 2 persons. The menu said: breadbasket, fruit platter, eggs, bacon, sausages, yoghurt etc.
What we got was 8 pieces of white bread, jam, not proper cleaned fruit, butter, eggs and 4 old sausages. We asked where the bacon and yoghurt was and the manager replied that they 'make a selection from the continental breakfast'. Ahh I see, so I make a selection from the menu and you make a selection from that selection? Great!
After breakfast we cancelled our further stay and confronted them with their creating of expectations (promoted on the site, during our stay) and the low standard of service. They replied that they don't have staff because of low season. Sounds legit. Why do you even open the resort and ask 40 dollars plus 10 dollars for breakfast then? We had stayed in this hotel for two days. Really all the staffs are kind and helpful. Always smile with greetings. We took a fish near beach and bring to hotel. They cooked fish what we want to make it. Swimming pool is clean. Open bar is available all the time. You can rent a bicycle and beach parasol. I Do recommend this hotel.
