    $ (225 Rs - for two people)

Tea is pretty good. There’s miscommunication with the waitstaff. We ordered iced coffee and he gave us lime juice. We tried to order passionfruit mousse and he gave us passionate fruit juice oh well. All of the customers there were locals.

Disgusted to the maximum about their service. Even though Pagoda is a well known restaurant for the last 50+ years if (I'm not mistaken) I was shocked to experience them serving out dated soft drinks. When I complained on the issue to the person who was in-charged, they made arrangements to replace the same with another drink. But surprisingly the one they replaced was also expired.
When I was dragging an issue on the matter their excuse was that I have read the expiry date other way around.
If so as per them the drink has got expired in 2013.
Instead of accepting the mistake what they kept on doing was scolding the old man who was nearly 70+ yrs for not checking before serving the same.
What I saw was even though they have a big history, they don't even have proper quality control procedures.

A great place to grab a bite when strolling in the Fort, between local police officers and some chinese businessmen. The savory pastries are cheap and very tasty. Staff is a bit slow and phased out.

    A little old place

Pagoda tea room is one of the hidden gems in down town Colombo. Its located in the heart of the city center and has ample seating. One of the lesser known facts about this place is that it is where Duran Duran shot the music video Hungry Like the wolf in the 1980's . And one of the waiters who was there at the time it was shot remained with them until very recently! and told me about his experiences with Duran Duran. You can reach out to me if you want my help to hunt him down and have a chat.

    Pros:
    Good pastries and quick bites.
    Rice available for lunch.
Good traditional type sri lankan tea
Spacious and plenty of seating available.
    Water closet/wash room

    Cons:
Can get a bit warm at times as there is no air conditioning.
Service can be a bit slow at peak times

Recommended more for the historical value, and the food to go as well.

One of the Colombo city staple this place was operational for generations. They have a very good collection of pastries and cakes. All are reasonably priced. Staffed buy an equally aged staff but the staff members know what they do service is pretty rapid. Food quality is really worth the money

Very good rice and curry lunch, fresh lime juice. The chocolate eclair is ok, just too sweet! Very good quality, service for the price.

Had a mutton Mongolian rice, but it did not taste anything like Mongolian, it is not at all worth for the price I paid (870/=), the greatest disappointment was it did not have the friend soy taste or the oily friend touch. I will not recommend anyone to eat form Pagoda and will discourage who ever wants to go.
